I am booked right now for May next year at our home resort. I want to switch at the 7 month mark to Bay Lake Tower. I am 25 points short, so I will either borrow one point and buy the other 24 on the one-time only purchase, or I will borrow all 25. I've never used the online booking system yet, and from what I've read on here, it is open an hour earlier than if I called member services to try to switch resort. How does this work online when I'm short on points? Does it give me options when I try to book but don't have enough points? Or would it be best to just forgo the hour early on booking and call to speak to an actual person to help me through the process? And if I book online at 7 months, do I cancel my existing reservation first (after I've checked to make sure there is availability, of course) and then book the new one? Thanks so much for all the help in advance everyone! :thumbsup2 I'm still pretty new and learning the system on the DVC side of things. We've just made 3 DVC trips so far, but loved each one.

You can borrow points online but you can only buy them through MS.

If you are booking Lake View, I'd bet you'll be okay. But if you are trying for standard view, that's probably already going to be booked. And if it isn't you'll need to book it right when you booking window opens on line.

Just borrow the points as soon as it says you need them. You'll have to cancel the home resort reservation and then book the non-home resort. Unless you have enough points to book both.

Thank so much to both of you! And yes, I'm wanting a Lake View. So that helps me make up my mind! I'll plan to borrow instead of buy the needed points and just go online to do it all. Thanks again!
