If you could give one tip to some one who is about to head to WDW, what would it be?

Read a guidebook before you go to get a general idea of what you do and don't want to do in the parks so that you'll know not to waste time on Mission Space if you get motion sickness easily.

And (because you know I couldn't narrow it down to just one), wear comfortable shoes!

Take advantage of the EMH- especially in the am and get there EARLY!! There is time to sleep when you get back home!!

Be open to the possibility that the magic exists everywhere there, so always be on the lookout!!! :wizard:

Think about what you really want from the trip. When we went in 2004, with a 2 year old and an 8 year old, I was so obsessed with "getting my money's worth" that we ran ourselves ragged, and by the end of the trip we were all sick and unhappy. When we went this year (kids now 4 and 10), my definition of "getting my money's worth" was a happy, healthy family having fun together. We didn't try to cram as much activity as possible into every waking moment. We did do early openings, but we were generally done with theme parks for the day by 11:30-12:00. Lunch, pool time, hanging out together, and dinner took up the rest of the day, and we were in bed at a decent hour so we got enough sleep to happily get up and do another early opening. We had a wonderful trip, nobody got sick, and we were relaxed and happy.

I'm not saying that my definition of how to do the trip is the only or best way for every single family. What I am saying is that you should really think about how you want to feel during and after your trip, and plan your activities accordingly.

I hope you have a wonderful trip.

I would say 'remember why you are going in the first place'.

If someone is paying money to go to WDW, it is probably not for the shopping bargains and surfing clinics. It is because they are going on a vacation. Too many people, myself included at times, get caught up into making sure they are getting the most for their money, or trying to see and do everything, etc....

To keep in mind the original reason you are spending your money (and time) to be there, would be the best one tip I can think of.

If you have never been there before, READ A GUIDEBOOK before you go. So many people I have talked to went with no planning or knowledge fot he parks before hand. they came back stunned because they didn't know how BIG Disney really is.!!!

Don't get so wrapped up in having to see everything that you forget to HAVE FUN! pixiedust:

Know what you're getting into. Ie, as others have stated--be prepared. Read a guidebook (or five). Read the DIS. You'll be able to tailor your vacation to your wants/needs and really enjoy WDW. :sunny:

For 1st timers, I've gotta agree with Read a Guide Book and Be Prepared!

I just helped a friend with her 1st trip and I mean to tell you she was CLUELESS. She thought Universal was part of Disney and since she was staying on property, she thought they could just walk to all the parks from their hotel! She had no intention of doing any research until I gave her my Passporter...only then did she finally start to "get it" - after that she was calling me everyday with questions.

Disney is a BIG place and to really enjoy it, you gotta prepare yourself/do some research before you go.

I know several people who have gone to WDW and missed so much because they judged a book by its cover. They did not go into hardly any of the pavilions in Epcot and experience the rides and attractions that are located inside. They did not do thier homework and see that their is an abundance of things to do there. Epcot is my personal favorite.

And, wear good shoes!!
