We have a category 11 GTY standard inside stateroom room for an upcoming cruise. At 42 days prior, we got our room assignment. They gave us a category 6 verandah room - a 5-category jump. Woo-hoo! :yay: I was hoping for an upgrade, but figured 3 categories was the most they would do.

Would love an upgrade but very happy with what we booked Cat 9. We are still quite aways from getting lucky. Cruise Memorial Weekend.

We got an upgrade from a secret porthole room, which we had requested, to a veranda room on our 4th cruise. We had 3 adults in the room and our TA said that's probably why we got the upgrade.

In November we'll have 3 adults and a 10-year-old, so we're hoping for another upgrade. But if not, we'll at least have an outside stateroom at an inside price.

Last year we were celebrating our anniversary on the Magic. I was in shutters ordering the CD of our pictures and said hi to Captain Tom. He asked if I had a good anniversary and I said yes. He saw the large stack of pictures I was carrying in Shutters and asked if I was buying all of them (it was EVERY picture we had taken) and I said I was getting the CD but looking for a few with the borders. He asked the officer in Shutters to hand him a few of the photo holders. She did and he then handed them to me, commented "hope you come sail again" to me, and told the same officer, she gets this stack on me. They offered me a bag, but I was in shock, said no and thanks - and headed back to finish packing.

We were on the westbound Panama Canal cruise in 2008 and then on the Magic again later that summer for a family reunion. On the second cruise, DD (then 3) ran into a CM who had been really nice to her in the kids' club. The CM was now in the gift shops but remembered her. We came back to our stateroom that evening to find a Magical Moments certificate with a note from the CM welcoming my kids back and a pin. It was really sweet.

We booked two side by side 12-GTY rooms for a family of 5 on the Magic. We were upgraded to a Cat-11. Nothing unusual about that. After day one we had a relatively small issue with one of our rooms, but was causing my allergies major grief. To repair it, they need us out of the room. There were not anymore side by side rooms available elsewhere. The only thing left was a Cat-4 family verandah!!! Since we had just unpacked and settled into our rooms we really seriously didn't want to move. It would involved packing and unpacking again...but didn't have much of an option. They helped packed us up and off we went to deck 8. It was amazing, they were so nice and helpful - they went way beyond and we'll never forget them for how well they treated us. The whole cruise was fantastic.

Our first cruise. Upgraded from cat 12 to cat 8.

And last summer...We got a free basket of fruit, plate of cookies, or some other goody in our room each day of our Back 2 Back Magic cruises. Not sure who did it.

It is very rare to get more than 3 cat--that's the normal DCL policy. Lucky you!

Might be interesting to make a sticky where everyone who got a free upgrade can post what they booked and what they got.

We booked a category 10 on our only Disney cruise, they called our travel agent 10 days before departure, we had been upgraded to a category 5.

This was on a packed New Year's cruise. This moved us from deck 2 to deck 7 and kind of messed up our pre-cruise drill with the kids telling them to go UP so many deck to get to the dining room, suddenly most everything was DOWN so many decks!!

We just got of the Jan24-28th sailing of the Wonder and at about 2AM the first night when they were washing off the deck, our deluxe family stateroom (5 in our party) had a GIANT leak in the ceiling. Turns out a drain pipe fitting was loose. Just like the person above with allergies, they asked if we wanted to change rooms, but they offered us a Cat. 3 Handicap accessible suite (8102) at the back of the boat with a HUGE verandah. We happily took them up on the offer even though we were in the back of the boat. I guess sometimes it is lucky to be unlucky (with the leak).

I have been on 6 cruises, 7th on 2/27 . Never got an upgrade...!! Always in a Cat 8.

Don't know for sure if this is Pixie Dust I've got, but my second payment for our fall 2010 cruise has never appeared on my AMEX statement. (it was for $1000.00!) DCL HAS their money from AMEX, but AMEX has no record of it! Although that charge may catch up with me in another month or so, IF it DOESN'T, I'll consider that Pixie Dust thrown to me!

My son's birthday is on this cruise, so I'm thinking that might be why we got an extra special pixie dusting!

I consider this a lot of pixie dusting...we've never been on a cruise before...had a horrible 2.5 years of 2 mortgages and all the stress to go along with it....so funds are/were tight!! Booked 2 cat 12 last November (taking our 3 kids and my parents with us) for a 10 night Disney cruise for $999 x 4 adults (kids sailing free)....then managed to maximize booking with Disney/using Disney Chase/and DU for On board credits, THEN we get a letter from Disney offering us $100 pp OBC, even the kids!! So we got a 10 night cruise for 7 people at a great deal and almost $1400 OBC!!

If we get any upgrades it will be a huge WOW!! The only stickler now is that I can't find airfare for under 1k pp!!! YUCK! But, I'm hanging on and hoping a sale will pop up soon! :)

Love hearing the pixie dust stories...for some people, they may not even notice a bump up, but for some it's like that little slice of heaven that tastes better than birthday cake!! :) Disney has a way of making the little things memorable!!

I too paid with my disney chase card in full. They say you get a $50 OBC when using it. However, after speaking to disney, they told me that the $50 OBC is not combinable with the kids sail free offer. Are you sure you got that $50 OBC as well?

We had our honeymoon on our cruise. On the last night we got a small little cake with a 'Congratulations' chocolate banner on it and a glass of champagne as a little pixie dust. It was a nice gesture.

We were in a cat 3 but didn't experience anything special outside of normal expectations. It was good customer service but I suppose I harboured a secret hope that we would get a little card or something that I could scrapbook congratulating us on our honeymoon. In the end it was fantastic anyhow, just the normal cruise experience!
