What is the Best Hotel/Resort you've ever stayed at & Why?

Grand Wailei is my vote
The Ritz in London was fab - honeymooned there :lovestruc
Dland Paris also very nice (but for the smoking :sad2:

One of my favorite places is the Royal Sands in Cancun - the cleanest resort I have ever stayed in! I could not find a speck of dust in the place. The only piece of trash I saw the whole time we were there was a Rice Krispies wrapper that bleeew off of someones balcony into the pool.

And the other is Secrets Capri Riviera - don't have a picture. We have been there twice and both times was awesome! Small beautiful resort with fantastic food for an AI.

With out a doubt THE absolutely best resort on the Western Hemisphere is the Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas Virgin Island.

Outstanding service
drop dead gorgeous location
Unbelievable food.

I would literally sell my soul to be able to afford to go there every year.

That place looks heavenly. The water looks so blue. Did they have lots of activities there too?

My favorite hotels are the Hyatt in Maui and The Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

I've always wanted to stay at the Grand Californian but just wasn't sure. Nice to see its on so many lists here.

I'm loving these pictures as well. Keep em coming everyone!!!!

We had a suite and I have never stayed in a room so beautiful. We would open the french doos and look out on the ocean, deep bathtub, wonderful bed, yummy breakfast on our balcony, location We will probably never be able to afford to go back but I tink it will always be my favorite hotel.

We loved the Grand Californian too, it just wasn't on my origional list. I loved sitting on the balcony watching the park come to life in the morning (our room looked over the end drop of the rapids ride.) Napa Rose was amazing too, probably one of the best meals I had ever had. We ate at the chefs counter and the somalier made sure our wine parings were perfect for what we were eating. He then gave us a large glass of the wine we liked the best to take back up to our room so we could have a drink on our balcony.

Grand Hotel - Mackinac Island, Michigan: we stayed there for one night in September 1981 for our 6th wedding anniversary. Beautiful, old luxurious hotel. This was when all 3 meals were included, dinner was quite an experience with dress requirements, tuxedoed waiters, an orchestra playing, etc. It was an experience that I would love to have again, but the prices sure have skyrocketed!

Contemporary Resort, Disneyworld, Orlando, Florida: stayed 4 nights there before our 7-night Magic cruise to celebrate our 25th anniversary in January 2001. Had a tower Magic Kingdom view room.

Port Orleans Riverside, Disneyworld, Orlando, Florida: spent a week there last March. The rooms aren't anything special, but the resort was really nice with lots to do, beautiful landscaping, etc.

Drury Inn & Suites, Frankenmuth, Michigan: love staying here and we always get a suite. Walk into the living room, then a small hall with micro/frig, etc. on one side, and the bathroom on the other, then the bedroom in the back so it's nicely spaced out for privacy. They have free popcorn and pop in the lobby all afternoon/evening, pop and microwave popcorn in your room, and they have a hospitality time every evening from 5 -7 where you are given 3 coupons for each person for alcoholic drinks (beer, wine, margaritas, etc.) and they have veggies/dip, other snacks and hot finger foods. And their breakfast in the morning is much more than just a stale doughnut and coffee. And it's all included in the price of the room. We love it!

Because of my job, I have almost lived in hotels around the world for many years, so they begin to run together - but one still stands out in my mind. The Four Seasons, Chicago...

Stayed in a lot of memorable resorts, but to pick non-USA I would go with

Treetops resort - Port Douglas Queensland AU
Hilton (concierge floor and club) - Sydney
Empress - Victoria CAN

3 USA I would go with

Grand Hyatt - DC
Grand American - SLC Utah
Moonstone Inn - Cambria CA

3 themepark based I would pick

Hard Rock - Universal FL
Contemporary (castle view) WDW
Grand CA - DL CA

If they ever offer the free days again during the summer I might have to fork over the $$$ to stay at the Grand Californian.
