I think it's the best, been buying it every year since 1999! I've tried others but i much prefer the brits guide although the passporters are good as well. Maybe it's just coz i'm used to it On the back cover there are money off coupons for things like car rental and certain malls, all invaluable and the tips are mostly from brits so you get a brits view
Simon and Susan Veness are the authors and it's widely available from most book stores and amazon.co.uk and play.com. I usually have a look at all the sites to see if i can find the best price
I'm sure others will have their faves as well but that's my recommendation
In the past I've bought the Brits Guide, which was especially good for our first time, and The Unofficial Guide. I also have a Passporter, although this year with the poor exchange rate it worked out cheaper to buy a whole new passporter in the UK than the refill pages from the US, but my absolute favourite is The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World by Julie and Mike Neal. I bought it last year following recommendation on here and loved it. The 2009 copy arrived last week and I'm really enjoying it.
I agree Unofficial Guide is fab for first timers and mine too is full of post it notes, however, there are no pictures so it's hard to visualise. I have bought 2 and the Beyond Disney, since last going we have had a little girl so i will also be backtracking and reading the sections on "kids at disney". The Unofficial guide is all about getting the most from your (usually) 2 week holiday and can seem exhausting but if you wanna know the quickest walking routes once in the parks or which order to do the rides/shows to optimise your day, this guide is fantastic as it assumes that you are visiting at peak times. We have never visited at peak times but it was a really useful guide and planning tool and great to read on the plane on the way there although i would buy it a couple of months before as its a huge book. Well worth getting. Simons Brits guide is good for when you have been already and you want a top up. A Bit tip : dont read before going to bed it always mad me really excited and i couldnt sleep
I get the Brit's Guide every year and I think this is the best guide book I have ever read. I also have the Passporter from last year. I like it, but not enough to get a new edition every year. I did not get on with the Unofficial Guide at all. I find the layout hard to read and confusing.
We like the unoffical guide as its focus is about WDW and covers a little about Universal. This suits us as we stay on site and only really do the parks, however we stay offsite or hore a car for future visits I would probably supplement the unoffical guide with something more broad to the orlando area
