What is the best "book series" you ever read

I also like cozy mysteries, but I bore of them after a while (catering, tea shop, yarn shop, etc.). I read every one of the Jessica Fletcher (Murder She Wrote) books when they come out.
I discovered the cozy mystery genre while browsing books at the library a few years ago. I found one author who I especially like- she goes by Christie Fifield and Christie Evans, and wrote two series that I like- one about a woman who becomes a plumber on up in Oregon and stumbles into crimes, the other about a Florida tourist gift shop. Loved reading that one because they came out in winter and it felt like a vacation just reading them. Light and fun reading.

A series I read as a child that hasn't been mentioned is called the Three Investigators. Similar to Hardy Boys/ Nancy Drew, they were three boys who lived in California and solved mysteries in the hills and landscape that was foreign to this East Coast girl. I grew up wanting to move to California.

I haven't read a series in a while- Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles was probably the last. I'll usually follow an author I like instead.

Hitchhikers Guide to Galaxy is the greatest 5 book trilogy ever
Harry Potter close second for favorite series
Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Discworld and Incarnations of Immortality are all great but not near my favorite two.

I just finished writing my first follow up book to one of my novels. So,I guess it is now a series and was really enjoyable to write. All the personalities and traits were all there for me like someone else had created them for me.

Jason Bourne Series by Robert Ludlum
Jack Ryan and Jack Ryan Jr. Series by Tom Clancy...although the Jr. series have other writers now.

Love the Spy/ Espionage genre

Lord of the Rings would be first, followed closely Harry Potter, and Lemony Snickets Series of Unfortunate Events would be a distant third.

Harry Potter. I love that DD11 is now into this series. I get to relive it all over again!

Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series is fantastic.

I also really enjoyed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy.

The Dark Tower by Stephen King. The movie was a joke and only scratched the surface of the whole saga.

I adore Stephen King. The Dark Tower ending was so frustrating!

"A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin.

The Hunger Games series was good.

I love both of these! I can’t wait for Winds of Winter!

I really haven't read too many series. But some time ago I read all of the Kent Family Chronicles by John Jakes and loved it.

Spoiler alert! Yes, it’s old but I think you should remove it.

The Woman’s Murder Club by James Patterson

Enjoyed this series and the Janet Evanovich "One for the money" series when I was younger.
Matthew Rielly Scarecrow series and Patricia Cornwall Bones series although later on I found myself not liking any of the characters anymore.
Tess Gerrison Jane Rizzoli series too

Oh, I forgot about the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo(Id put it in my runner ups).
There's two more books to it. They are not by the original author of course, but I read one of them it wasn't awful. Wasn't as good as first three but okay.

My all-time favorite series is Harry Potter. I read them aloud to DD as she was growing up, we've listened to them on countless road trips, and I've read the entire series to myself a couple of times.

As a kid, I read the Trixie Belden series and Donna Parker series. Didn't like Nancy Drew at all.

I have favorite authors/series-
John Sandford's Lucas Davenport books, the "Prey" series
James Patterson's Alex Cross series (also Women's Murder Club)
Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware series
>as well as other books by these authors
Other favorite authors are Kathy Reich, Tess Gerritson and Karin Slaughter. I also enjoy some of the Lazaus/Decker books by Faith Kellerman. I used to read Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta series religiously, but now find the characters self-centered and petty, with weak story lines.

I also like Janet Evanovich. I have all the numbered Stephanie Plum books as well as a few "between the numbers" books. I really like the "Wicked" series, but she's only written 3 so far; wish there were more!

Does anyone remember the Rabbi Small series ("Friday the Rabbi Slept Late) by Harry Kemelman? I enjoyed those quite a bit!

I love that people are saying Discworld. I have a few books I haven’t yet read by Terry Pratchett sitting on my shelf. Some Discworld, some not. I can’t read them, because then it will be over. :sad1:

I really enjoyed the Hyperion Cantos (all four books), by Dan Simmons. Someone sent me the first book while I was down and out and it let me escape into that wild story. I loved all four books, though I know reviews are divisive, especially on the fourth book; but I loved it. Cried a lot, too.

Oh gosh- the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum books! I read up until the teen numbers and then stopped and can’t figure out which book I’m on now; but never ever in my life have I laughed as much as when I read her 3rd and 5th books (ok, maybe Going Postal and Making Money by Pratchett).

A million times all the entertaining Christopher Moore books, but really enjoyed the Pine Cove set, especially “The Stupidest Angel.”

I liked the Sue Grafton mysteries as tried and true engrossing reads and also the Lincoln Child/Douglas Preston Relic series (for when I wanted not to be able to sleep, ha!)

I also very much enjoyed (couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next one) the Richard Jury mysteries by Martha Grimes. Loved the characters and the settings.

I also am digging the satisfying and easy mystery reads by Duffy Brown (Consigment Shop Mysteries) and Juliet Blackwell (Haunted Home Renovation Mysteries)- like old friends you know you’re going to have fun with.

He’s big in young adult now, but Rick Riordon wrote a great, fun adult mystery/suspense set many years ago- the Tres Navarre ones - starts with Big Red Tequila.

There is a series by the late Virginia Lanier about mysteries solved by a young woman who breeds and trains bloodhounds. One of the books it "A House on Bloodhound Lane" They are great.

Elizabeth Peters and the Amelia Peabody series, set in Victorian days in Egypt.

Diane Mott Davidson wrote a series about a caterer and her policeman husband; there were a lot of recipes included.

As a child/teen, Anne of Green Gables. Little House, Narnia, Ramona Quimby, Harry Potter

As an adult, Outlander and Lord John series, Game of Thrones, Hunger Games, Maze Runner, and anll of Philippa Gregory's Historical fiction.

Cotton Malone
Mayfair Witches
Amelia Peabody
Agatha Raisin
Hamish MacBeth
Brooklyn Wainwright
Olivia Parris
Katherine Hall Page books
Lucy Stone

I love series!
