1st Time Going To Wdw And Pretty Excited. We Are Taking Our Kids 8 & 4 In Beginning Of Feb 06. What Must We See. Have Character Meals Reserved Already For 4 Days. What Attractions, Show, Rides, Must We Do?

There's lots, actually . . . personally if I had to pick only one, it would be Haunted Mansion, which your 8-year-old would undoubtedly love and which your 4-year-old might be scared by.

As for the kids - mine are 6 and 4 - I'm not sure it's their favorite, per se, but I think I'll be hearing them sing "It's A Small World After All" for the rest of my life. :)

My # 1 Must see is Mickey's PhilharMagic. 3-D show at Magic Kingdom.

#2 would be the Hoop Dee Doo Revue- Dinner show. Not totally sure if the youngins would like it or even get it. We love it and the food is good too.

Best show--Philharmagic and for rides all the kiddy ones'.

It's too hard to pick just 1 thing!

At MK: Philharmagic
At Epcot: Soarin
At AK: The Lion King Show
At MGM: Fantasmic

I kept the ages of your kids in mind when I answered. If your 4 year old is a dare-devil, I'd change my answer to Splash for MK.

I'm sure you'll have a great trip!

You must see the parades and fireworks. My kids (and I) really enjoyed them! :jumping1:

I'll list 'em by category:

#1 Adult Ride: Mission Space - EPCOT
#2 Adult Ride: Soarin' - EPCOT
(I never thought I'd ever list the top 2 Adult rides being in EPCOT)

#1 Kids Ride: Peter Pan - MK
#2 Kids Ride: Goofy's Barnstorm Coaster - MK
(These are according to my daughter)

#1 3-D Movie: Mickey's Philharmagic - MK
#2 3-D Movie: Tough to be a Bug - AK

#1 Nighttime Show: Fantasmic - MGM
#2 Nighttime Show: Spectomagic - MK

#1 Daytime Parade: Stars & Cars - MGM
#2 Daytime Parade: Dream Come True - MK

Honorable Mention: Hoop-De-Do Revue (A MUST DO!)

Haunted Mansion is pretty much our favorite. Small World, Fantasmic and all parades/fireworks are must do's, too. Have a wonderful vacation!

I would say that the absolute #1 must-see is Cirque du Soleil. We always hesitated but it is definitely worth the time and money. :)

Philharmagic at MK is awesome! As for rides, it's anybody's guess. What I thought my four year old would like didn't turn out to be true...We had to ride Pooh three times and she's not even a big Pooh fan. Haunted Mansion is great, too!

Hi there....
....we're going to be @ DW at the same time....
I'd say there's a good possibility that the 8 yr old would like Buzz Lightyear's ride....the Philharmonic 3-D show is marvelous....and for classic Disney....Splashdown Mountain is a must...!!!
hope you have a wonderful time...!!! :cheer2:

Are you planning on doing 4 character meals? IMO, one meal is enough. They are fun, but take quite a bit of time and are expensive. Be sure to do Kidcot stops in Epcot World Showcase. Philharmagic in Magic Kingdom is awesome. All the rides in Magic Kingdom are great. Fantasmic at MGM studios is a must see. Watch for PUSH the talking trashcan--the kids still talk about him. There really isn't anything at Disney that we don't like.

Thanks Everyone. Sounds Like Philarmagic Is Something Everyone Enjoys. I Booked The 4 Character Meals Because With The Dining Plan, The Cost Is Not There And We Are Doing Them Very Late Morning, So They Are Almost A Brunch And Taking Care Of 2 Meals.

When I 1st read your post, I 1st thought of all MY favorite things, then I realized that these are not the same as the kids.
My daughters were 8 & 3 on our 1st trip to WDW. For them it was the Dumbo ride, the parades, and splash mt. Also we were renting a home w/ a pool and they didn't want to get once we got there for a break and wanted to return for the night shows so luckily my father in law was also staying with us and he stayed with the kids while dh and I went. We loved Fantasmic and Illuminations. The kids did see these 2 years later when we returned they liked these at 5 & 10years old. Have Fun! :teeth:

Fantasmic was our favorite (me and DH), Buzz Light Year ride was the favorite of both DDs. They would have literally ridden it for hours without getting off. All we heard all week was, "Can we go on Buzz Lightyear again?" DD8 hates loud noises and 3D movies, so it was very difficult for the rest of us to enjoy any of the movies or fireworks, although Fantasmic was so awesome that she tolerated the noise fairly well. (Yes, we did bring her earplugs, but they didn't help much.)

splash mnt. in mk
kala river rapids in ak
tough to be a bug is scary for most kids
soarin in epcot and test trak for the older child
muppet 3D in studio

My family's must see and do list includes

Peter Pan
Haunted Mansion
It's tough to be a Bug (hubbby laughes and laughs at this one) :rotfl2:
Fish and chips at Epcot
Spaceship Earth
Minnie's House
riding the monorail from the Magic Kindgom to Epcot
riding the Safari ride at Animal Kingdom at least twice
seeing the tigers at Animal Kingdom
Morocco in Epcot

We were there last week with DDs 8 & 5. Favorites were different for each:

DD8:
River Rapids at AK
Rockin Rollercoaster and Fantasmic at DS
Mission Space and Soarin at EP
Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Christmas Parade at MK

DD5:
River Rapids and Lion King show at AK
Start Tours, Beauty and Beast Live and Fantasmic at DS
Soarin at EP
Thunder Mountain, Philharmagic, Small World, Cinderellabration at MK

Adults:
Lion King show at AK
Rockin Rollercoaster, Beauty and the Beast Live and Fantasmic at DS
Soarin and World Showcase at RP
Philharmagic, parades, Cinderellabration, Space Mountain at MK

We had a great time and tried to balance activities for the kids and their different ages and courage levels.

I will say this.......It's Tough To Be a Bug TERRIFIED my DD5. It was the first thing we did on our very first day, and I thought the rest of the week was up in smoke after that. She cried and screamed the entire time with her face mostly buried in DH's neck. It took her an hour to recover. So be forwarned that although we see it as fun and non-threatening, it doesn't look that way to a young child!

Keep the list coming...and thanks OP.
Oldest is 47" and middle is 41". Youngest is not 40" and not a dare devil.
Trish
