What is "sweet tea?"

I think it's more of a term than a recipe. I remember when I moved to Atlanta from NY and asked for ICED tea they looked at me like I was crazy. When asked if I wanted SWEET tea I looked at THEM like they were crazy!! :p

I use the same tea bags for both. I've never heard of sweet tea bags.

I love Sweet Tea. I had never had it until last year when I went to Charlotte NC. OH MY! You just cant find it the same up here in NH.

We just moved to Charlotte from Oregon. Every food establishment here serves sweet tea.

Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. Tea sweetened with sugar.

Thanks for all the answers! I stil don't know why there tea was cloudy and not sweet. Maybe they mixed some regular iced tea and sweet tea together. It sounds like the big difference is that sweet tea has the sugar melted with the hot water first rather than adding your own sweetner after it is served. It sounds alot like the "shaken iced tea lemonade" that I get at Starbucks. They ask me if I want the sweetner syrup added.
I think I would like sweet tea, but DH would gag!

If sugar is added to iced tea, it just won't dissolve very well. So they may have just added sugar to your iced tea.
The advantage of using simple syrup is that it will dissolve in cold liquids. That's why starbucks does it that way instead of just adding sugar.

Here's a twist on sweet tea, the recipe is called "Tennessee Tea" and it is yummy and sweet. Boil 4 cups of water in a pot, remove from heat add 3 family size tea bags and let steep for 15 minutes. In a 1 gallon container pour tea (minus tea bags), add 3/4 cup Countrytime Pink Leomande (you can use store brand crystals also), 1 cup sugar, 1 cup white grape and mix. Fill remainder of 1 gallon container with water.

Hmmm, that sounds good!! :)

Gonna save this one.

Do you mean to tell me there are other ways to make tea other than Sweet Tea?!
