DS, who just turned 2 in December, is OBSESSED with Wall-E. I don't get it. He's seen just about every Disney movie, but its Wall-E that he loves. It's one of the few words that he will say over and over.

Yes, I think it's a good movie, but there are others that I love much more.

Anyone else's toddlers obsessed with Wall-E?

(I'm hoping we will find him in the parks when we go in May!)

My dd 4 LOVES him too. I actually just put a post out asking if he is in the parks, and I guess he is not. Bummer!

We just watched this movie Friday night and already DD3 simply loves him!!

I thought the movie was cute but not on par with some of the greats (Lion King, Mermaid, Toy Story) so I too was surprised when she kept calling "Wall-E! E-vah!"

We have to return the movie soon to the library...I'm hoping we part well with it!

My DS(4) loves Wall-E! I liked the movie, is it a "Lion King"...no, but it wasn't supposed to be. It has a completely different message.

Maybe Wall-E will be inspire our kids to be more green than our generations have been. :thumbsup2

The Movie, Wall-E, appeals to young children because it is a VISUAL movie... no language or dialogue needed.

It carries a message of our most basic need... the need to "connect" with others.

Even young infants reach out to connect.

When my daughter was that age, it was all Nemo, all the time! I think they get attached to their favorite and want to see it over and over again.

Excellent post.

Wall-E was the first movie we took our boys to see in the theater. That may explain some of there obsession with it.. but they absolutely LOVE Wall-e. I think the movie is adorable and does have a nice message (aside from the political, environmental message it portrays).

My biggest complaint about Wall-E is the line of toys. Aside from the expensive interactive robots the toys are simply garbage. I've bought several of the sets and action figures for my kids and none of them lasted more than a couple of hours before breaking.

Generally, Disney themed toys have held up pretty well but these Wall-E toys are terrible! :(

Wall-E is special to us (myself, dh, ds(3)) for several reasons.

1. This is the first excursion to the movie theater with a child who would actually watch a movie (used to go to reel movies for mothers and infants when he was up to 5 months old) -- this matters to me and dh as a documented first.

2. It's a cute story that is easy for a kid to relate to.

3. As a sci-fi freak family, we love space and futuristic movies.

Personally, I loved this movie from the first time I saw an ad. DS(3) wanted us to show him the online teasers every chance we could -- that's how much he liked it from Day 1. The DVD was a Hanukah present from us and we used it during a long drive to visit family during the holidays -- even his brother/sister (not yet 2) enjoyed watching it in the back seat.

Wall-E was the first movie that my DS3 actually sat through. I agree that it is a simple visual movie. I also think that the Wall-E character is simple enough to be on a young child's level. He uses single words and simple noises to comunicate that younger minds can understand. While im not a huge Wall-E fan, i do appreciate that my little guy has a movie that appeals to him on his level. I also hope that Wall-E is at the parks when we return in November.

Our DGD who is 2 1/2 LOVES Wall-E. She use to watch Nemo where ever she was at our house but once we bought Wall-E she wants to watch it every visit. We play it in our bedroom and when she says it's time to watch Wall-E that means she is ready for a nap, works great!

Didn't think about that, but you're right! Most of the movie they don't need to understand the words!

I do hope there is something in the park when we go in October!

We loved Wall-E! I bought it on Blu-Ray as a Christmas present although we ended up watching it before Christmas(excited over the Blu-Ray player we got)! It has such a great message.
My cousin said she and her kids didn't like it because there was no talking and that none of them "got it".
I heard they have cut outs somewhere in DHS but I also heard he isn't in the parks at all. That's kinda disappointing.:sad1: We can't find any toys for it here either.

My son(6)loved it so much, he now wants a Wall-E birthday party(instead of the Batman one he wanted) but they don't have any supplies for it! So I am going to improvise a Wall-E birthday for him.

My DS is 2 1/2 and LOVES Wall-e. He walks around the house and holds his arms out and pulls them to his stomach and says "Smash Trash". Wall-e was one of the first words he said that everyone understood.
One day I was listening to the Broadway station on Sirus radio and the song from Wall-e (I think it's from Hello Dolly) came on. Before I had any clue what it was my son starts screaming "Wall-e Wall-e Wall-e" They hadn't even started singing the words it was just the intro. :rolleyes1

Heck, *I* like Wall-E, LOL. He's just so cute.

Seriously, for toddlers I think it's the way Eva says "Wall-E". It makes it very endearing. And I really do think it was one of their best movies. Might not have been as "merchandisable" but truly was a terrific film.

My DS6 LOVES Wall-E and was disppointed there was no Wall-E attraction at WDW. Plenty of toys, but no character :(
My DS3 watched the DVD and goes around saying 'Wall-e' in that dragged out way. It's funny.
I have yet to sit through the movie myself though the kids have seen it dozens of times. Hubby wants me to wait until we get the Blue Ray copy. He took DS6 to see it and loves it. But we have loved all the Pixar movies, except Rat.

We just saw the movie over the weekend. My DH and I were randomly saying Wall-E all weekend in the robotic voice. It is just fun to say. It was a good movie, not great but good. I can see where young children can identify with the characters.

My son is 3 & he watched it but it does'nt hold his interset like Cars or Peter Pan. I thought it was ok but not very exciting.
