everyone talks about it...what is school bread? where do you get it? are there nuts in it? my ds is allergic to nuts.

It is a pastry found at the bakery in the Norway pavillion in Epcot. It is filled with cream and frosted with a chocolate glaze on top and sprinkled with coconut. We tried one last summer and we all liked it. Even DH who doesn't like coconut said it was good. No nuts as far as I know.

It's so good and a great use of a snack credit because it's huge! There are no nuts in the school bread but I would make a note of the allergy to be sure that it doesn't come in contact with any..

That's the school bread on the left, and the sweet almond pretzel on the right (both from the Kringla Bakeri in Norway/Epcot World Showcase)

We like both. The school bread definitely tastes like bread - but the cream filling & the coconut on top make it sweet. They used toasted coconut now, so it looks more light-brown on top now.

It's just a little snack in Norway that I found out about on this site.

It's just a beautiful delectable snack that I had for the first time last year.

It's just an amazing feast for the mouth that should not be tasted in this world, because surely it came from the Gods.

It's just a little snack that is made by God himself.

In short, it is what God eats when he is hungry.

When I ate it last year, I started to cry, I was so overwhelmed.

I can't even talk about it. It is a very emotional snack for me.

NOTE: Catne I thought it was very disrespectful to put Scholbread in a picture with another snack. In fact where I come from, taking pictures of Scholbread is sacrilegious. If God came down from heaven would you take a picture of him also.

School bread is like a giant boston creme donut with coconut on top. IMO, they are very over-rated.

I was introduced to school bread (I wonder if that's how it is actually spelled) by one of my roommates when I was a CP at WDW, and I will always be grateful to Jake for the connection. I probably would have never found them on my own (and I, like stemikger, weep at the thought of such a missed connection).

They look like giant baked potatoes; you probably wouldn't be initially attracted to the huge pile of coconut topped with custard, but that would be your loss. Although the basic components are a giant (delicately) sweet roll, a *very* generous filling of delicious vanilla-y custard (probably like a 60% bread/40% custard ratio), covered in shredded sweet coconut and a pat of custard on the very top, they are actually made of magic and I don't know what makes them so delicious, but they are magnificent. stemikger is right - they are straight from the Norse Gods.

I haven't been in Epcot in 5 years :sad1: , but you can bet that the Kringla Bakeri in Norway will be my first stop the next time I'm there.

Classic post!

In a word....HEAVENLY!!! :lovestruc:lovestrucYUMMO! :worship: We went to Kringla for these almost daily for our school bread fix and even brought some home! They are soooo addictive! I think a PP said it was chocolate, but we were there just last month and it's an icing on top of the bread with toasted coconut....too good to be true! Be sure to take the long way back through WS to work em all off :rotfl:

I so love your definition of Schoolbread :worship::rotfl2:. I was planning on trying this in March while we were there, but time was the essence therefore I was not able to. However, I am definately making a point of trying it when we return next year. It is going on my must do list of things to try.

In all seriousness, it is amazing.

I am going this August for the free dining and I am so excited about getting this as a snack option. It is one of those foods that look good, but actaully taste better.

Sorry for the misspelling in the other post. Here is the way the Nords spell it.

Norwegian School Bread (Skolebrød)
