I read in another thread that there is a "trash & tidy" on day 4 of a stay at DVC where you get fresh towels, soap, etc.. This has me curious as to what is provided in the "homes". What would I need to bring if I went for a stay?

The kitchens are stocked with all of the typical cooking equipment and dinnerware you might need. For example, Disney's website for Saratoga Springs Resort mentions the items below, but they may vary slightly from resort to resort. You could always check the page for each resort to determine exactly what that resort's suites contain:

Room amenities:

* Nonsmoking rooms available
* Iron and ironing board
* DVD player in living room of 1-Bedroom and 2-Bedroom Vacation Homes and Grand Villas
* Whirlpool tub (except Studios)
* Television in each bedroom and living room
* Ceiling Fans
* Full-size washer and dryer (except Studios)
* Fire extinguisher
* Hair dryer
* Shampoo/conditioner
* Complexion soap
* Deodorant soap
* Drinking glasses and ice bucket
* Clock radio
* Wall safe in closet (laptop size)
* Vacuum cleaner
* Closed Captioning available on all television sets

Full kitchens include:

* Coffee maker
* Dinnerware
* Pots and pans
* Microwave
* Toaster
* Stove
* Refrigerator
* Dishwasher

They don't call it trash and tidy anymore, people were expecting too much with the tidy name so they changed it years ago. You have a washer and dryer right in the unit with you so just bring the clothes you need. If you need to wash your towels it is no problem. The previous poster pretty much covered everything else.

Is there a clock radio in all bedrooms??

Yes, in fact the one we had at VWL had a night light on the bottom. I have a travel clock for the other side of the king bed (I never seem to get the side with the clock).

The only things we usually bring are extra bars of soap (one for the kitchen and one for the extra bathroom sink (sometimes they have a bar there), foil to wrap leftovers, extra washcloths (don't like to reuse).

Do you know how many place settings for dinnerware?

Eight

One thing to note regarding the list above. Our 1 bedroom at VWL earlier this month had a video player (not recorder), not a DVD.

I didn't see you mention the size of the unit. The dishes are only provided in a One Bedroom and larger villa. In a studio you'll only get paper plates and plastic cups. (No dishwasher.)

If you're staying in a studio, you might want to bring along some additional plates for your party.

Other noteworthy items:

* No salt or pepper provided in any units.
* In a 1B+ they will give you a box of laundry detergent for one load. Additional boxes are $1 each. Bring your own, and dryer sheets. (I guess this applies for Studios as well if you plan to use the public laundry facilities.)
