What is one of the 'less than perfect' items you've bought at disney?

While others have said they had problems with the 2009 hoody sweatshirt, I bought the zipper sweatshirt, without the hoody, and mine did not shrink after washing it. :cool1:

Is this still the case? I thought the same, but within the past year or two I noticed the change in Disney. They no longer have the friendly exchange they used to have for defective merchandise. If you don't have a receipt then they treat you like the PP mentioned, as if you stole it.

How long ago was it that you exchanged an item?

I was there in October and exchanged a pair of sunglasses with no problem.

The 3 pack of buses! C,e with a magical express, Disney bus and cruise bus. Wheeles fell off within seconds of opening! Major disappointment since my dds were so excited about them

This past November I bought a pair of knitted Kermit gloves from the Muppet gift shop in DHS, and the first time I wore them one of the fingers started unraveling (and its not something I could fix). I called Disney Merchandising.. they told me to email them a picture of the damaged glove and a scan of the receipt. They sent me a new pair of gloves... and didn't even ask for the damaged ones back!

I have a 2009 sweatshirt as well which got really pilly as well! It didn't shrink, but the sleeves are covered in pills. I still wear it though. :)

The monorail. My dd wants a new one every time but they always break!
Yep. We got one a couple of years ago. It worked for about 5 minutes. I spent a good deal of time trying to get it replaced, but Disney was so non-responsive that I finally gave up.

I bought a sweatshirt on one of my trips. It is a great zip up sweatshirt, but with the first wash (in cold water) the colors ran so it was splotchy. I still wear it around the house, but about a year ago the zipper pull broke on it as well. Now it's got a safety pin for a pull. I am sad since I spent so much and really like it, but I wish it has lasted longer than the first washing.

This past October, DH and I bought a set of Mickey/Minnie key chains that are shaped like puzzle pieces and fit together. Within a month the little ring that connects the puzzle piece to the larger ring opened and it separated from the large ring. The exact same thing happened to DHs a few days after it happened to mine.

OMG, same thing happened to DBF and I. We bought the set in July and sometime in September, I realized my puzzle piece had fallen off my key ring. DBF still has his, but probably only because he took his off his key ring after mine fell. :/

Still makes me sad because it was SUCH a cute idea.

Wow... I am shocked at many of these. We have bought many things at Disney and can't say that we have had problems like everyone is reporting. Then again maybe it's the items we are buying - no electronics, no toys. Even with the clothing it sounds like the women's clothes have more of the problems. Although, I will say that the tshirt we bought for our DD a few years ago was quite small for it's size and she outgrew it rather within the year.

we built our own light saber and it worked fine until we got back home.
it just wont work ... batteries aren't the issue and i cant figure out what is not connecting or whatever.
I would have called, but it just seemed like such a hassle.
DS5 still uses the lightsaber but not lights or sounds.

The Cinderella Castle playset. We had it shipped home and gave it to my daughter for Christmas one year. It was broken within a week or two and not by no fault of my daughter, expected more especially because of the cost.

Yikes, after all that money on it! I always wanted to get one for my kids - glad I haven't. DH has gotten a lot of tshirts that have shrunk (normal wash following directions) which have now become my tshirts. :) And the sword from pirate's league. It broke in half. pirate:

Disney Polly's dolls...

We brought the prince doll pack.. It looked like you got 3 doll and a few changes of clothes..
Only to open it up and fine it was one doll with changeable head!!! The heads were so little that there was no way to get the heads on the one body..
I don't understand way they make such little pieces!!! They were lost before ever getting home..

SAVE you money and buy the new ones in the store, that have the magic clip on outfits! Much better, and less Likely to get lost..

I think we bought what you are talking about. One dd got Minnie and the other dd got a princess set. Within a couple of weeks, arms were detached, heads broken and dresses ripped. Was really disappointed

i've had the post-it notes that don't stick.

i agree that the quality of clothing is completely hit and miss. sometimes, i get a nice, thick shirt though. sometimes, my DD inherits my shirts because they're too short.

it's sad when the $15 tees from The Disney Store are better quality than the $30-40 park ones!

a few years ago, my sister bought Christmas tees for her and for me (i wasn't on the trip). mine had several holes--looked like an animal had scratched it. hers also had holes in it. thankfully, Disney replaced them, but we weren't able to get the same shirts since they were sold out. :(

other than one balloon popping in a too-hot car, most of our balloons have lasted weeks after our trips!

we have a monorail that we've had for years that still runs. we only bring it out at Christmas. the only thing is that i've had to superglue the doors. but it still runs.

:rotfl: Almost everything I buy from Disney isn't the best quality and tends to fall apart. Clothing shrinks and fades after one wash, things break easily, etc. I bought flatware and even that fell apart!

And that dang monorail. Always falls apart. I won't buy it anymore.

Now, pins, my Disney Designer Princess and Villains dolls (I admit I have not unboxed them...)--those things are OK. Stuffed animals are fine. Magnets seem to demagnetize after a few years, but I don't think that's Disney's fault.

I also don't like the sizing of their women's clothing as it's definitely not women's but junior's. At 5'4" and 118 lbs, I shouldn't have to buy a size large, but I do (unless I want it fitting like a 2nd skin, which I don't)!

Can I get an AMEN on this?

I'm 5'1, 115lbs and their size M are super tight! I get the "lady fit" thing they're trying to do but it's too much.

AMEN! 5'2 120lbs and will be buying size L!

My mother bought me a WONDERFUL Disneyland jacket for Xmas.. However it is REALLY SNUG! DH LOVES IT!
However I think disney forgets grown WOMEN have breast..

I buy a souvenir mug for my coffee every trip. Last trip I bought a Kidani mug and after 3 washings the painted detailing is almost completely gone - now it is pretty much just a plain brown mug.
