What is on National's Emerald Aisle? *2011*

Any update from the B side - will be there in 3 weeks...hoping for not a complete row of Impalas...

Would that then be a "heard of impalas"? Good luck. We arrive in 2 1/2 weeks, but just rebooked for a minivan so no aisle for us, but we'll still wander through.

Last Saturday (4/9) around 1:20 PM Side A. Emerald Aisle had only mid sizes. Executive had one midsize SUV and two Infiniti G35s! (I took one!)

I had to pick up a coworker and toured the B side while waiting. So around 2? EA once again only mid sizes. Executive had the basic stuff too, no mini van's or SUVs. Did see one Buick LaCrosse and one Volvo.

Also, do not take from the "wrong" Aisle here. I had to back up at the exit because the man in front of me had taken a fancy VW from the Executive Side, the agent told him that he wasn't entitled to it as an Aisle customer and he didn't want to pay the "upcharge" (At least that's what the agent told me and I could tell there was an "animiated" discussion prior to me getting up to the exit! :) ) Agent told me that management had told them to "crack down" on people self "upgrading"

May 14 will be my first time renting with National. I'm executive level and wanted to know if anyone had any info on exactly what I do when I go to get my car. Can I just skip the counter and go straight to the cars? Is it clearly marked which aisle I'm allowed to choose from?

Thanks!

Yes, your ressie should say on top Level of service: Executive emerald aisle.
and then you go straight to garage on side A or B and follow signs to National then you will see the Different aisle's all clearly marked.
Have fun!:wizard:

This is OT because I picked up my car at the car care center, but I booked a midsize and got a full size Dodge Avenger, sweet. It was a sweet ride.
The day before our trip I picked up a car at the National rental in Edison NJ and drove and returned it to Newark Airport. We got a Chrysler 300, another sweet ride for a one day free day rental ...

Folks should be returning from their Easter breaks. Maybe we'll see some recent reporting.

We came in yesterday around 2pm, B side.

Lots of minivans (we were surprised), impalas, a nitro, and some other odds & ends.

Just got a report from our friends who arrived this morning. Arrived Side A @ 10:00 AM. They texted me that there was nothing larger than a full size on the regular Emerald Aisle this morning. They picked up an Impala. They checked the Executive Aisle for us since we arrive on Monday and also reported nothing larger than full size vehicles and specifically mentioned that there were no SUVs or minivans in either of the two aisles. This was on Side A. Unlike us, who have been known to go to Side B to check too, they only checked Side A. She was happy to get a full size car for the 4 of them.

Just wanted to mention that since you are Executive Aisle members, you can choose from either aisle. So if you see something in the regular Emerald Aisle, you can take that too. We've been Executive Aisle members for many years and enjoy that perk.

Here's my update. Not great for regular EA users. We arrived on Monday @ 10:30AM Side A. On the regular EA it was sparse. There was only sedans and one small SUV (not sure what it was, maybe a kia). There was more empty spaces than cars. HOWEVER, if you are an Executive Aisle member (like us) we hit the rental car jackpot. There was everything you could think of. I'll try to remember, but the list was long: Expeditions, Edges, Caravans, T&C minivans, Suburans, Towncars and pretty much anything and any model you want. There was so much we found ourselves overwhelmed and finally just took the grand caravan with sto and go. We have family arriving this weekend, so needed a crossover or larger. I had a minivan ressie earlier, but let it go when the prices dropped. I ended up paying $175 for a 13 day (2 week) rental. We drop off on Saturday May 14th around noon, so if time permits, we will check again.

OK, here now (see earlier post) but looked for this post because OrangeCountyCommuter posted some great info here:

As I posted we picked up on Monday and let me tell you, this is absolutly TRUE. While we are Exec Aisle members, if you are NOT an Exec Aisle member, do not take from this aisle. After getting our minivan we had to back up as the person in front of us had to back out from the kiosk and return their car because they tried to "self upgrade". When we got to the window we asked the clerk what that was all about and she said they choose from the wrong aisle and was told they would be charged full price for that model, so had to return it to select from the proper aisle. As I posted in my earlier post, the regular EA didn't have much to choose from, so I guess this person decided they had to have a larger car, so took one from the Exec aisle. They had a SUV or Crossover. I only noticed when the backup lights came on and we had to back up.

We rented on 4/24 and it was the first time as an emerald member. I rented midsize and had my pick of cars. The kids and I must have looked at over 10 cars from full size to minivans to the ford escape which is what I picked. I did speak to the attendant to make sure which cars I could take and the only ones excluded where the luxury and convertables. She directed me to the minivan aisle and the suv aisle.

The entire transaction was a pleasure. We put all of our stuff in the car and were on the road.

Question: I got a pretty good rate on a 'Fullsize Crossover' back in December for a trip coming up next month. Comes out to about $240 after taxes/charges. If I get there and there aren't any Crossovers/suvs/minivans in the EA, am I then forced to take whatever they have at that same price? I'm Emerald Club, but not executive. If that is the case, I might just get a good rate on a full size then. It would be almost half the price.

Best news ever! I'll post when we pick up on Saturday, wish us luck!

Here is a reminder to all EA members:
DH is Exec, but I am an EA only, so, when I travel without him, I make sure to check both A and B sides. Last Jan I got a fully equiped Ford Edge with XM radio. It wasn't easy walking from one side to the other, we had our bags, carry ons, stroller and a car seat, but , it was totally worth it! I loved driving it for 10 days!

We arrived around 1pm on May 3rd, and the Emerald Aisle was full. We were about to take a Grand Caravan, but then noticed a Ford Escape so took that. There were Impalas, a Sebring and at least 5 minivans (only noted the one type before we grabbled the Ford Escape) that I saw.
Not sure what side this was, sorry!
Thought we might have been in Exec but no, it was the regular Emerald Aisle. :cool1: Very happy with our rental, and very happy with the price.
