There are so many experts here with alot of inside knowledge. I wonder if any of you know if WDW will be expanding again in the next few years? Will we see another park added? If so, any ideas what it would be?

New park, I doubt it. Maybe a new attraction but nothing has started yet other than everest. The only other rumor is that timekeeper will be transformed into some sort of Monsters, Inc show.

The stated strategy for the parks, going forward, is to enhance the assets they already have, rather than creating new assets. So that means no new parks, but rather they'll focus their improvements on existing attractions, or perhaps adding new attractions to those parks.

I agree that we won't be seeing any new park added in a very long time, if ever. Disney management has made it clear that they want to devote time, energy, and dollars to upgrade the existing parks. I think this is a good idea since, as we all know, there is a growing need to refurbish and update a number of attractions.
I do believe they will add some new attractions along the way to keep returning guests interested.
Another problem with adding a new park is trying to get employees. I have read that the labor market is very tight in central Florida. Disney goes overseas to get some of the needed workers. A new park would demand a larger number of additional employees than are available. I also read this tight labor market is why Disney has yet to finish the Pop Century resort.

There will be a lot of money invested in current parks and the infrastructure, bringing new magic to what already exists.

The only "expansion" in the current 5 year plan is the DVC area of the resort.

Once Saratoga Springs is complete a 15 story tower will replace the north garden wing at the Contemporary.

Then a new DVC resort will be added where STOLPort is currently located.

A study is also under way to add a third ship to DCL.

But you didn't hear any of this from me :)

STOLPort

The private Disney airport/runway facility near the monorail line before you get to Wilderness Lodge/Magic Kingdom Parking area...
(usually identified by the windsock, just really gravel/grass we've seen used as a parking lot of courtesy cars for events like Funai Golf Classic)

WOULD THIS BE A NEW MONORAIL RESORT... rumors rumors...? :rolleyes1

It seems that none of these plans will ease the congestion in the parks. In fact, adding more resorts will only add to it. Do you think there is any thought to how they can make it less crowded?

Just a thought, but do you think they would actually wonder "How can we make less money?" Magic aside, it is still a business.

I would LOVE for DVC to go to the Contemporary. When we were there last week, though, I asked if that was fact, and the guy told me it was a rumor and nothing had been announced yet. He said if it was for the Contemporary, they would have no problem selling if that was the case. I would love to see that one happen!

In regqards to the Timekeeper, where is that at? I thought someone mentioned while we were there that Stitch, The Incredibles, and Buzz were in the building where the Timekeeper is.. We were there, but I didn't notice a ride. I guess I'll have to look at my map.

There is no congestion at the parks. Its called being busy. The parks need to be busy or else they wouln't be around much longer.

I think Disney should add an "Ocean Kingdom" - Central landmark can be the Atlantica Castle from the Little Mermaid. They can have an "Island Showcase" similar to the World Showcase at EPCOT and can have the park divided by names of each of the Oceans....... I know I am dreaming, and it would cost ALOT and demand more employees, but it would be VERY COOL!!! I think Disney could add more "Thrilling rides" to a new park.

Yes they basicaly have already made that... its in Tokyo

DisneySea what i'm refereing to.

A new DVC resort where the runway is? Where did you hear that? I was just wondering because I'm a DVC member, hang around the DVC boards alot, yet never heard that before.
