We've never done either and I'd like to try. My kids are 6 and 10. I'm thinking we should try green first to try it out. Does it spin? Is the green intense? Thanks

I will preface this by saying I have motion sickness.

We did the green. I closed my eyes most of the time. I left nauseous and then the migraine came.

However, if you have a stomach of steel and love the idea of flying through space, I could see how it would be an amazing ride.

I never advise starting on orange. I don't get motion sick and I was so ill it ruined my day - green didn't bother though

I get motion sickness on the tea cups and simulators like Star Tours. I did the less intense side this past May. I didn't love it...didn't feel that great, but definitely didn't do me in like the others... I don't know if it was the tight space, the fear of getting sick, or the barf bags that I kept looking at - but I didn't enjoy it at all - and was grateful when it was over. I did feel fine once I got off..

I thought that it was dull and it made me feel woozy. I personally hope to never ride it again but some people do seem to really enjoy it.

The gravity from spinning around in circles (that's what you do) as you're supposedly rocketing into space plasters the skin back off your face. And the rest of your body is forced into the seat. I have never gotten sick or even queasy on it, but it is intense. This is the orange version, of course, I've never been on the other one.

On both sides, you will be seated in a small space. The pull-down harness will cover most of your chest and is tight. Then the whole instrument panel will tilt forward toward you as the doors close. The panels will be inches away from you, though the actual screens are recessed a bit.

The Green ride does not spin, but it does tilt. You will experience normal gravity, but at different angles in time with the video. I personally find that Star Tours causes me more discomfort than Green.

The Orange ride tilts and spins. You will experience differing accelerations that will be perceived as changes in gravity, pressed back in your seat for launch (positive g) to the odd sensation of deceleration at landing (negative g). Your best bet to maintain comfort is to keep your head firmly against the headrest and try to keep your eyes looking straight ahead. While you will feel as if the gravity force is head-on, your eyes and ears will get confused if you look to the sides. Your eyes will resist and try to snap back to looking straight ahead. It's a very strange and uncomfortable sensation.

I recommend you take a look at a ride video on YouTube. If you want to stay spoiler free, start from this link (8:22) and stop when the time reaches 10:20. This will show you the safety video, then the actual loading.

Whatever you do DO NOT CLOSE YOUR EYES OR LOOK DOWN...

This is the mistake that most people make while riding this ride which makes them sick. When I was at space camp when I was a kid and did this simulation which was the exact same thing, the instructor told us to never do either or you will become sick...

Great advice! I wish I had know that!!! Explains so much about why I felt so terrible.:

I seem to fall in the category that the majority of people fall in. Green doesn't bother me at all, but Orange can mess me up. I've been able to ride Green and the worst that happened was my legs were a little wobbly immediately after the ride for a couple of minutes (probably from nerves since my first time was on Green).

Orange, however, affected me for most of the day. We rode it first thing in the morning and I felt out of it and a bit woozy for hours afterward. The worst was definitely lift off, the simulator is much like those 'Gravitron' rides you see at other theme parks and carnivals where they spin you really fast and push you against the wall.

From what I can recall, after lift off, the Green & Orange are mostly the same? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm going in September and of course my boyfriend is insisting on riding Orange. I might sit out or listen to the others and keep my eyes open & focused straight ahead.

I really can't tell the difference between the two. JKalai is definitely right though - never, ever take your eyes off the screen in a motion simulator. Very bad things happen when the motion your body is feeling doesn't match what you're seeing. That's why so many people get carsick if they're not looking out of the window.

I avoided it for years because I was worried I would get sick and then I finally tried the green. It was great. To me, it felt very much like Star Tours. My then 6 year old loved it. We don't even attempt the Orange though- I have known several people who have gotten sick on that side.

I rode the "orange side" before it was the "orange side". Loved it immensely. Then came the different sides and still did orange. Then I broke my neck so had to do green side for five years until I was cleared to do orange side. So, have ridden both quite often (we go about four times a year).

I would say if you have any qualms, the best bet would be to do green side. It's the same thing as the orange except no spinning. If you can handle that, then do orange after. You'll get the same story but a bit different sensation.

And that being said, I ride the orange side now with a broken neck and with the doctor's OK.

The onscreen display is really dated, but it's a lot of fun and, in my experience, not nearly as intense as a lot of people make it out to be. I don't think I've ever ridden and not spent the entire time giggling.

Have you ever done sum of all thrills? Mission space green is very similar to that, its like your pod is on an arm and the arm moves it around, its very tame. I have never been on Orange so no comment on that one

I agree with the suggestions made by others about not looking side to side, don't close your eyes, and keep your head back. This totally worked for me and I get motion sickness really bad. I can't do Star Tours. :crazy2:

If you or your kids has any kind of motion sickness issue, steer clear of the orange side. My dad insisted on trying it, despite having motion sickness problems.

Bad idea. We ended up sitting for an hour before he felt ok to walk. He didn't actually throw up, but he was close.

I don't have motion sickness, but have ridden the orange side and felt poorly afterward- I was getting over a chest cold and when we lifted off, it felt like an elephant on my chest.
