Usually fly from Newark...how long does it take to get there? What car service could you recommend?

From Manhattan Ive used super shuttle it very cheap and good service. I actually prefer JFK to Newark. IDK what airline your flying but the JB terminal has always been a breeze for us.

How long it takes to get there depends on where you are coming from and the time of day. I would allow for about an hour from any of the Hudson River crossings or NYC. Getting around the airport can be a hassle but since you are looking in to a car service it is not your problem.

We have flown out of JFK many times, and we live in central NJ. From here, it is not that bad to get to JFK, we take the outer bridge crossing thru Staten Island. (My north Jersey relatives have to cross thru Manhattan, and that is NOT a great option, so they avoid it.)

We always park at Avistar now (the long term lot is not great, esp when you return late at night).

We used JFK for cheaper air (there are 6 of us), and to use JetBlue and Song. (now of course Song is gone and JetBlue available out of Newark). We got $59 each way on Song many times to Orlando.......... much less then we could get via Newark. We now use Atlantic City when air is reasonable, and we can use Southwest out of Philly.

I don't know if there are any fans of Newark as an airport out there, but I vote it right down near the bottom of the list with PHL for comfort and ease of accessability. If you've survived EWR, you'll be fine at almost any other American airport.

I'd put PHL lower than Newark..

As bad as EWR is today, any of you folks fly out of there when it was the hub for People's Express? I've been in Greyhound terminals that were nicer.

As for JFK, it's all about traffic and where you are coming from. Travel during busy time can take you at least an hour longer than it should.

The quirky thing about JFK it self is how big the airport it. It takes up a ton of space, with many well spaced terminals. As long as you know what terminal you are flying out of, it isn't a problem. But if you end up in the wrong terminal, it can be a pain to get to the right one.
