what is happening to CCV?

I own CCV, but already gave up studioes, hence am considering adding some points to 'leisurely' secure 1 bedroom for our annual year-end vacations. I started paying some attention in the past few days, was shocked to see not just studios, even one bedroom and two bedroom are having none or spotty availability! For those who had experience, will this continue into the second half of December (I am considering a 1 bedroom for the week leading to Christmas)? Also it is just this year, everything got squeezed by Covid, or it is actually the same every year?

The other wild change is how fast availability is changing! Just keep stalking.

There are SO MANY points floating around and so much uncertainty about travel for so many.

I think that you have people with so many extra points securing rooms for more nights or room sizes that may not normally be done.

Just keep trying and going on at 8 am to see what you can get! It took me until the 3rd day to get my BLT SV studio, Since we are flexible for next December, I booked a full 7 nights....will make it 10...until we decide for sure our dates.

The 1st 10-14 days in December are frightening at a lot of places every year. It should be a bit easier for the dates your looking for but you don't want to be too leisurely about it.

I think this is spot on. We are those people! We have enough points for a couple studio trips each year. This year because of a couple of cancellations in 2020, we decided on using our points as a trial run on 1 and a 2 bedroom to evaluate if the bigger room sizes will make sense for us as our kids grow. If the trial goes as I suspect, it's going to result in an add on contract for us.

Huge allotment of points in Cabins is the issue.

No clue if long term 1br/2br is going to be impacted.

I agree. Hope they will reduce a bit the cost of Cabins to balance a bit more the picture.
I am wondering how many cabins remain empty every year. It is quite easy to find one available even at peak times...

December is always the most popular month for the Lodge. This, coupled with the extra points people have from not traveling, is making December 2021 especially difficult to book. I was able to get a studio for the first week, so it can be done, you just need to be quick and have a little luck (or walk).

A word of warning Buzzw0rthy,

Once you stay in a 1 Bedroom, it's tough to go back to a studio. The extra room, the privacy of the bedroom. Heck, it's only my wife and I and I'm not sure she would stay in a studio any more. Tried going back to a studio once and it wasn't as much fun.

This is so true! I had a 1 bedroom for 3 of us going next week and two weeks ago, decided to upgrade to the 2 bedroom because then I am not in the living room!

My DD and I always do food and wine in the fall and this year, did the 1 bedroom vs, the studio and Yup, new tradition!

So, I am also wondering about the studio avalability at CC.
I am not a DVC owner yet, but I am considering buying copper creek. Is it worth it, or should I go a different route? We Will mainly be traveling in early november.

If you want a studio, just don't. Personally I regret buying there. But ultimately buy where you want to stay. If booking 11 months out is not doable for you, you'll be disappointed if you try to book CCV. But if you don't care where you stay and don't mind whatever is available at 7 months then it's great with no resale restrictions and like time left on the contract.

If you love CCV and want to stay in a studio most years, and will generally be traveling the same week every year, consider a fixed week. Otherwise, consider a different resort entirely, especially in November. Studios go fast, more so at high demand times of the year.

I Will be traveling from sweden, so I will use the 11 month advantage most of the time. So then I should be able to book studios? If I book exactly at the 11th month mark.

If you travel in December, there’s really no guarantee! I see you say November, if you travel around Thanksgiving time, that could be hard.
The cabins have caused booking studios at CCV difficult. The fixed week option would work for you.

At CCV from mid november on, it is not a guarantee that you wlll get a studio. They are gone by 8:01 every day. Some open back up after walkers move forward, but even with that, I am not seeing much opening back up.

This is normal for the first half of December even in a non Covid year. Availability for even 1 and 2-bedrooms can be very spotty and drop fast (not quite this fast, but fast nonetheless). In a normal year, the first 2 weeks are a lower point season for 1 and 2-bedrooms, which makes them more desirable to save some points. This year all of December has the same points, so I would expect this to carry through the month this year. Add in the extra points people have to burn (we are doing a big family trip December 2021 - because we have points to use).

In a normal year - 2nd half is usually easier to book, so your thought process of adding points for a 1-bedroom should work going forward. Next years point charts also make the 2nd half more expensive than the first half again, which should make that slightly less desirable.

I'm not sure how many points you are looking to add, or if you're looking to add through Disney or resale. However, if you are looking at 100ish points and buying through Disney, I would inquire about a fixed week studio (if thats the room category you prefer). It's possible they may be sold out for some of the December weeks, but if they are available, it would guarantee you what you are looking for.

We stayed in a studio for the 2nd time this past December. We are a family of four with a 17 and 14 year old. While we had an amazing trip and enjoyed the parks overall, we all agreed this is our last stay in a studio. It felt cramped and not that enjoyable. I am currently looking to add on points so we can stay in a two bedroom so my daughters can have their own beds.

This is off topic a bit, but is anyone else annoyed that the only way to get more than one bed is a two bedroom? Why don't they offer a one bedroom with two beds (similar to resort rooms?) We really don't need the size of a two bedroom, but that is our only option if each of my kids would like their own bed. We often lament that the sleeping arrangements were better when we were booking resort rooms (compared to a studio, with the pullout.)

There are quite a few 1BRs with a 5th sleeper chair/Murphy - and the Poly Studio also has a bed, sleeper, and Murphy. That's the difference between CC and BR. Bigger question is why does CC only sleep 4???

Our home resort is CC. :headache: And while I appreciate the sleeper chairs, etc. It's still not another bed. It would be fantastic if a one bedroom with two queen beds were a separate booking category. I'd be on that like flies on poop.
