what is gelato?

Gelato is an Italian type of ice cream. It really hits the spot on a hot day while walking around WS.

Gelato is thicker and creamier than regular ice cream. The flavors tend to be more exotic as well. I was recently in Rome and the gelato was beautiful to look at. My favorite flavor was mimosa.

Yum! Its like a cross between ice cream and an italian ice. By the way, we prefer the kaki gori ice cones in Japan over the gelatos when in WS at Epcot. Never leave a trip without a kaki gori!!

There is a cart in the Italy pavilion that sells gelato. I had the pistachio gelato and it was SOOOOO good. YUM!


I agree, Gelato is soo much better than American ice cream, it's so much smoother and has a way better flavor to it. YUM!

My favorite flavor was mimosa.

Now that flavor sounds HEAVENLY!! I love gelato, but I think I really need to try the Khaki Ghori this year. Oh heck, I think I will just have to eat both!

I was down there last november and I went looking for the gelato in italy and couldnt find it dont know if it was because it was the food and wine festival or just not out that day hope its there this year when i go back i love gelato

I've never had the geloto in WS, only in Florence and it was so good I still crave it- 9 years later! I'll have to try it at WDW.
It's like a really creamy ice cream.

I would go early for gelato... we went around 8pm and the cart was closed. We went the next day at 5pm and they were out. We finally got our strawberry gelato at 1pm!

For those that have eaten real gelato in Italy, you might be a little disappointed. The gelato in WS comes pre-packaged in little cups. It is good -- don't get me wrong -- but if you have had the real thing in Italy that is scooped into cups for you, it is not as good. That being said, I don't miss it for at least the thought that I am eating gelato!

Technically they scoop it, but it has more of the consistancy of soft serve, if that makes sense.

And to whoever said that they should have it in America...they do. You just have to find a gelatoria nearby
