Can anyone tell me what exactly the Disney Vacation Club is? And what is PAP,what's it stand for?

I see many of you chatting about "buying points" what is this all about? I have been to Disney Several times whith my parents when I was younger. But now, for the first time, I am actually planning and paying for my own trip! I am planning a wedding at Disney and this will be the first time DH will see the World. Once he is bitten buy the "Mickey bug", I hope to make MANY repeat trips. So, anyway, this is officially the first Disney trip that I will be paying for on my own, and I would like to learn about this DVC thing for at a later time. Thanks

DVC stands for Disney Vacation Club, which is like a timeshare, but with more flexibility, and the magical Disney twist! The accomodations are fabulous, and bigger than most of those found within WDW. You can stay in studios, 1BR, 2BR or 3BR villas. The rooms are available for cash through CRO, but it is VERY expensive that way.

DVC resorts are located next to Wilderness Lodge (Villas at Wilderness Lodge), Boardwalk Inn (Boardwalk Villas), The Yacht and Beach Club (Beach Club Villas) and two stand alone resorts - Old Key West (near Port Orleans) and the newest, Saratoga Springs, which opens in May and is where the Disney Institute used to be located.

If you want to learn more about DVC, check out the DVC Discussion Board here on the DIS!

PAP = Premium Annual Pass.

I'm a DVC member. Instead of buying a "week" you buy points. The points allow the flexibility to stay at a studio, 1 BR, 2 BR, or a Grand Villa. You have the ability to stay at Villas at Wilderness Lodge, Old Key West, Boardwalk Villas, and Beach Club Villas on WDW property. You can also stay at Disney's resorts in Vero Beach and Hilton Head. The number of points required for a stay depends on which unit you choose and what time of year you go. Christmas, Easter, and the summer are high season, while most of December and January are low season, but the seasons also vary at HH and VB. While at Disney, you can take a tour of DVC. I'm pretty sure Saratoga Springs is the place to take the tour.

You can also use DVC to swap out for other vacation spots, including Disney Cruise Line, bed-and-breakfasts, and other very posh resorts. You also have access to Interval Internation resorts. There is a fee to swap out for these other places.

Also, there's a separate board for DVC on Disboards. There is a ton of information over there. It's almost mind-boggling!!! Everyone over there is quite knowledgable.

When we joined only one resort that is now called Old Key West.It is a great time share opportunity if you like going to WDW each year or two.We own our points till 2042.When we bought the points were $50 each now I think they sell in the low $80 range now.I think PAP stands for Premiun(sp)Annual Pass.:wave2:

Hi,
My DW and I have been going to Disney every year at least once sence we got married six years ago. We haved stayed several times at a DVC resort by buying friends points. The other times we hvae had to stay at All Star or the Moderate Resorts. We now have two small DC 3 and 5 months. We love the idea of a home away from home. So when our freinds sold there DVC membership we decided it was time to buy in. We now have 180 points at Boardwalk (BWV). We love the flexiablity that DVC gives you. You are not just buying a specific week like many Timeshares. You can when you want and stay were you want as long as yopu book in time. For what I pay in dues and my 10 year morgage is a little more that I would pay for a week at the All Star Resorts for 5 star accomidations. I could never aford to stay where I stay now and still go every year. This year we are going twice in March and Decemeber. DVC is by far the best thing thta we have purchased for our Disney trips. Good luck

Merandab4,
I'm not a DVC member (at least not yet..hehe) and I just rented points from a DVC member to stay at Saratoga Springs in December....YAY! It takes a lot of research and work to find and buy the points, and a LOT of trust if you are non-DVC (the DVCer reserves the right to cancel your reservation at any time), but in my mind, it is well worth it. We are paying $132 a night for a studio! YIPPY!
I made sure to rent from a DVCer who is on the Dis. I researched all his posts and had close contact with him, even asked for references. Be sure if you voyage into renting points, you do the same.
