What is Dominos Pizza like in your little niche of the world? [EDIT] What about Pizza Hut?

Hit or miss here. I've had some really good ones, and one's where I've asked for my money back

Same, I honestly don’t know if I ever tried it, although I have found empty boxes in my kitchen when I had teens. It’s cheap, I’ll give you that. There has to be 2 dozen independent (and well ranked) pizzerias with 2 miles of my home.
WOW 😲 😲 😲 24 places...must be mind boggling!!!

It’s actually a running joke, anytime a new business is opening, people’s comments are usually “is it a pizzeria or nail salon.”

We have some new builds a few blocks from us and the Facebook group for our town is going on and on that all we need is another pizza place. We have 2-3 pizza places on each block. But I bet another one is going up.

We are getting a taco spot soon!

Near me it's Mexican joints. The major thoroughfare near me has a heavily mexican inflluence, and there are so many taquerias and taco trucks, etc. There are also a lot of Asian and Middle Eastern places too, plus a few others, but Mexican definitely tops the count. It's the best strip for ethnic food in the city though. I alwyas think it's funny whant the foodies have "discovered" some place on that street that's been there for decades. 🙄 Amazingly they recently opened a Chipotle on that street, and I wonder, how on earth can that compete with all of the great, authentic options? Then again, the Taco Bell is always jammin'! 🤣

So, I grew up in NJ and never had Dominos until I was an older teen. We just had plenty of good family owned NY style pizza places around us that a chain like Dominos was never a consideration. In fact, Pizza Hut (back in the days of it being all deep dish) was the only chain pizza I'd had until I was about 17. When I did finally try Dominos (I was curious because I recognized the boxes from movies) it was downright disgusting.

Dominos is probably the cheapest option we've got here but I'd rather heat up average super market pizza than eat Dominos. The closest one is in a little shopping center that's a short walk from my house. We get it for things like school parties, but it's still gross and I refuse to waste calorie consumption on something that bad. My husband, on the other hand, didn't grow up with good pizza...thinks it's all the same...and thinks my feelings on Dominos are ridiculous.

Ironically I'm not sure we have Domino's Pizza around anymore, despite the fact they originated in SE Michigan. If we do they're not plentiful. I only remember having it once more than 30 years ago and it was meh, which is typically the case with pizza from big chains IMO. The rare occasions we order pizza we do so from one of a few local mom and pop shops that make nice, fresh pies with tasty crust and a variety of good quality ingredients.

Greasy pizza with nasty crust and junky ingredients just gives me a stomach ache and I'd just as soon eat a couple slices of toast and avoid the pain.

There are good Domino's locations, and there are really not good Domino's locations. We have a good one in a town to one side of us, and a not good one in a town to the other side. There's a BIG difference between the two.

Not bad all in all. Prices were mentioned. There are some national specials in the United States. Currently $7.99 carryout (no delivery) special but must be ordered through the internet via their website or mobile app. That's good for a 1 topping large pizza, bone-in chicken wings, or a 1 topping medium pan pizza. Used to be 2 toppings and before that 3. There are other specials including $6.99 each for medium pizza. They're higher in certain areas, like $1 more for the carryout special for most locations near me.

These specials are considerably cheaper than regular prices, but even with lots of advertisements I think few people take advantage of these specials.

Yes, you absolutely have to get the specials. I had a friend once volunteer to place the pizza order and pick up, but he paid the full price. No, no, no - not for Domino's! At seven or eight bucks though, I can deal with it.

Long Beach CA;
Not bad. You can almost always find a coupon, on line or otherwise, that make the price pretty reasonable. I always pick up, and it's usually ready in about 15 minutes. Hard to complain about that. There are a couple of truly hand-made specialty pizza places that are far better quality-wise, but price is also much higher and the wait considerably longer.

:crazy2: Dominos is truly dreadful; Pizza Hut only a little less so, and not particularly cheap, really. It’s about $45 CAD at either of them for two mediums if you want more than two toppings. And a side of (rather gross) wings at either of them will be $10 for 8 pieces. Papa John’s is terrible too and if we need cheap, bulk pizza for any reason we get Little Caesar. It’s no worse but at least not quite so expensive.

I’m not a big fan of Pizza Hut but it does hold a soft spot in my heart. When I was a kid we almost always tried to find a Pizza Hut when on vacation. We didn’t go out to eat often at home so doing so on vacation was huge.

I miss those days.

I don’t like Dominos or Pizza Hut. Dominoes is good if you’re looking to save money, it’s really cheap.that’s the only good thing about it tho, I think it’s gross. My DD worked at Pizza Hut for a bit and even with her discount we still wouldn’t eat there lol. I’ll take a mom and pop pizza shops pizza over big brands any day. We have one near us that’s run by a little old man from Italy, and the pizza’s expensive but it’s so good. They have a “spaghetti pizza” there that my kids love.
