We're (well...."me" mostly, it's going to take some serious work to get dh to give in ;) ) thinking about taking a trip to Disneyland in September (14th-19th). What's the weather like at that time of year and how are the crowds?

Its a great time to go! We went mid September in 2004 and 2005. Very low crowds, thats after Labor Day so pretty much everybody is back in school. And too soon for Fall Breaks (for schools that even get them). In 2004 it was HOT, HOT, HOT! But we still had a great time. Last year, it was perfect weather. There will likely be a few things down for refurb since that is such an off time. But to me, the low crowds make up for it. Fireworks typically only run on Fri and Sat nites that time of year. Fantasmic is usually about the same. I think the 50th officially ends the end of September so it would be great to get a visit in before that ends. Another good thing about that time of year is the hotels both on and offsite offer great deals. Last year at Paradise Pier for instance we had a nightly average of around $128 a night with the stay 3 nights get one night free deal that the onsite properties were offering. Good luck with your planning!

I love early September (just after Labor Day!). It's great weather and very low crowds.

This year could be an exception to the low crowds with the 50th celebration ending at the end of September, but traditionally, it's a great time to go!

The weather will be nice but be forewarned!...the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon will be held that weekend. So, what's normally crowded on the weekend will be even worse on those days.

Thanks for the heads up lap3! I had no idea this was going on. I really want to miss any type of event that would attract more people than "usual" to the park. I'm thinking I should plan our trip for a different weekend. I'm a bit disappointed though....the 17th is my 40th Birthday.

Thanks again for your help! :)

Well, the only reason why I knew about it was because there was talk about this race towards the end of last year. And, if you're planning to stay at one of the three DL resorts that weekend, they're completely booked. You would have to keep calling every now and then and hope that someone cancelled their rooms.

If you decide to go, look at it this way...what better way to celebrate your birthday than doing Disneyland's first 1/1 marathon!

Regardless, good luck in your decision and have a happy birthday!
