What exactly is this? I keep hearing people are in this and getting deals. If this is the Diney Vacation Club then just let me know, although I am not a member of that I do know about it.

I was just wondering if they were two different things.
Thanks:p

Two seperate things.

The DC is a membership affiliate that you can join for $39.95 a year. Some have a code for $10 off to join.

You get discounts on rooms/tickets/packages, etc. The general discount is about 10% off rack rates. You also can get (10%), I believe at a couple of Downtown Disney restaurants and discounts at the Disney Store.

Upon joining, you recieve a membership card...which you will need to show to get the discounts at restaurants and stores.

The biggest perk for me was the toll free numbers to make reservations and priority seatings at the WDW restaurants.

Sit tight....I'm sure someone will be along to post the specifics regarding the 2002 membership benefits.

Opinions on the value of this membership varies widely. Take a look at the benefits and you can decide for yourself whether you believe this would fit your needs.

To me, that 800 number for reservations and 10% off at the DS are the only perks for the $30 - $40 investment. The discounts offered elsewhere are easily matched or beat by promotional codes and offers available to non-members including AAA and AMEX white glove treatment discounts.

Even the 10% at the store off you can do without when you order online. There are codes and special offers that anyone can use to get the same 10% discount or even more.

The hoopla about its value as an Entertainment card is relative. You can see at http://entertainment.com/disneyclub what you'd really get in your area of interest.

I have only used the 800 number and the 10% discount at the store, occasionally. For everything else I always found better deals elsewhere.

So it doesn't sound like it will really help me get a better deal on a room rate for May?
Thank you for your help.

Go to Mousesavers.com and compare the discounts available to DC card holders and non-members.

Normally, DC discounts don't give you the best room rates. Besides, AAA gives you exactly the same discount so if all you want it for is booking a room and are already a member of AAA, you may not need the DC membership to get the same rate.

When I tried to book a cheaper rater with DC, they wanted me to pay the entire balance for the room prior to arrival. Is this always the case?

I think only AP reservations allow you to pay at check in. with AAA they want payment of the balance 2 weeks or 45 days prior to arrival and DC is two weeks or something like that...

It all depends on how you booked the rate.
