We are thinking about trying Nine Dragons in Epcot on our next trip. I have read many reviews on this site, and I have looked at the menu. I feel really "dim" but I do not know what dim sum is. Help!

Oh, I love Dim Sum!!!!!

Traditional dim sum has all of the food (small dishes) come around on carts. Each cart will carry 2 or 3 choices (dumpling type offerings, single servings of vegetables or meat, soup) and as a cart with something you like goes by, you flag it down and let the server know what you want. They stamp a little card for each choice and at the end of the meal (whenever you are full) you tally up what you ate and pay.

Now I don't know if Nine Dragons does the cart thing or not. If it doesn't, then they probably just serve you a traditional assortment of dim sum foods on a plate -- it would be like making a meal out of appetizers. It's a great way to try new foods!

think of it as the Chinese version of tapas - lots of little dishes for you to sample. there lots of dumplings - shrimp, pork, chicken and vegatarian, plus various mixtures - they come steamed and fried. buns with different fillings - bbq pork, egg custard, lotus seed - are another standard offering. traditionally, dim sum is served as brunch, but it popularity now has it being served thought the day in many resturants.

If you're old enough remember when the desert cart came around at many places. Think of it like that. Except everything comes around. The portions are smaller than family style.

Hmmm. Dim Sum. Opposite of bright difference.
