We're considering flying from Houston to Orlando but want to be sure to weigh all costs equally. Can y'all tell me what the least expensive method of travel (and if it's roundtrip cost or one way cost) to get from the airport to the Polynesian? We would be travelling with my inlaws so it would be 4 adults, a 3yr old child, and an infant (9 mos old). WDW has quoted Mears at $58 per two adults.

Thank you!
Shelly

my guess is that Mears is your cheapest bet. unless you can get a really cheap car rental.

Welcome to the DIS!!!

My guess is that you might save some money by booking a limo over Mears. There are a couple of limo services that people like here, someone is bound to suggest a couple of them. Personally, I always rent a car :).

Yourride towncar service charges $80.00-$90.00 roundtrip depending on which resort. They have vans that would accomodate all of you and your luggage. You don't have to share it with anyone, they will make a 30 minute grocery stop if you want to pick up a few things, and then take you directly to your hotel.

Mears is a bus that stops at several hotel. It can be a long ride. No grocery stop.

We have used them twice and have had great service!

The most inexpensive way is to walk. ;) You could also hitch-hike (I'm not kidding - some people have suggested asking people at the airport if they want to share a ride). The city bus is very cheap but I'm pretty sure you don't want that, either.

Realistically, the fltours sponsoring this page, or yourride as others have suggested, may be best. Mears is $28 per adult, roundtrip. At mearstransportation.com it says a roundtrip for a child is $20. With 4 adults and 2 children, you would be paying more money for a very reliable, reputable Mears shuttle bus than you would for an exclusive, luxurious towncar ride direct to your resort.

Here is a breakdown of some of the WDW car services and their costs for your trip. You would need to use a luxury van or a limo (more $$) to transport everyone safely. Most car services offer a complimentary 30 minute grocery stop as long as you tell them this in advance.
FL Tours (DIS Sponser) Round trip $109 + tip w/coupon www.fltour.com
Yourride Round trip $ 90 + tip (it says it offers the same price for town cars & luxury vans on their site? www.yourride.net
Tiffany Town Car Round Trip $90 + tip w/coupon www.tiffanytowncar.com

There are others available too, you just have to pick whichever you feel most comforable with based on what you read, etc... At one time or another someone has posted good and bad reviews of them all, you just need to be prepared to deal with the company (take the phone number, comfirmation #, etc.. with you) and always confirm the car service before you leave for your destination.

I would recommend a car service over Mears any day. We have noticed in the past when arriving in Orlando that we can stop and get our bags, use the car service, stop at the grocery store and still arrive at our hotel much faster than those on Mears ( we have seen people arrive much later than us and we always stop for groceries!). So the overall cost is just something we budget for when planning.

With the amount of people you need to move it seems that the car services would be the least expensive option.

HTH!

It was Tiffany all the way to the Poly for us in August. We only had 5 but used the van. Prompt, and grocery stop if you want it and also car seat if you need it but must request it ahead of time. I didnt need one but it was already in the one drivers van anyway. Heah, less than 1 hour from MCO till Poly check in. Hope you have a great time. You will love the Poly, make sure to put in your long house request. Dss like a driver waiting for us with our family name card. I used their 800 number to call. I just like talking to a real human being sometimes and we also switched to the swan so I wanted to make sure they got that right for the pick up back. Our favorite driver is berkley.

In August of 2002 myself and 17 other family memebers went to disneyworld. i had bought he passporter to disneyworld adn thye ahd a write up on mears and tiffany town car so after figuring out it woudl be really expesive to taek mears i called tiffny and htey gave a us a great rate of 150 roundtrip for allof us with 2 vans. it was so nice to get off the plane at MCO and see soemone holdingup our name we had help with our luggage they had the 2 car seats and booster seats as requested at the time of the reservation. there was even a small TV in the vans playing disney movies we did not do a gorcery stop cause we brought all of our snacks with us. the service was excellent roundtrip. I then used tiffany again in Oct when i went with a friend and her two kids it was so nice getting to the hotel wihtin an hour of landing. The 1st trip we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott , 2cnd trip was at the contemporary. Hubby and I are going 9/27 to 10/01 w/out our 4 rugrats and I am hoping to find the money inour budget to do Tiffany again, if it is just 2 people and money is an Issue then def go with mears but since there are 4 adults it is cheaper to go with a twon car service. hope this helps . do not take mears shuttle unless you like to see the city....
take a limo, van or a town car , it will be cheeper and faster. someone mentioned yourride for transportation? I have been reading some very bad comments on them on DIS, this company had alot of problems before and since it has been sold to some one else, i have not seen much good about them. They were kicked off this site, from what i have red. any way i have used happylimo.com for the past five years on my trips to orlando and have been very very happy with the service. they will charge you only $75 on your round trip to disney if you mention mousesavers.com in a town car or $170 for a limousine.they have 2003 limos and do not use sub contractors like other mom and pop companies. you get what you pay for, cheeper is not always better. you should do your home work and go with the some one who has been doing this for a long time. good luck and have a great time.

You do "YOUR HOME WORK" Happy dose use sub contractors like all of the other Company's in Orlando do! NOW as far as Yourride having problem before. All company's have some problem BUT we were the ONLY Company in Orlando that was in good standings with the Better Business Bureau. And Happy Limo CAN"T even think about getting on the BBB because of so many BAD post.
Have a nice day!
