What is BLT worth per point?

Now that's turning lemons into lemonade!!! There will be a day when I convince my DH to go more than once a year, but it hasn't happened yet. Honestly, I may just go with either his mom and/or my mom and the kids. Our moms love it as much as I do, and I would have an extra hand with the kids. I just wish we could drive there in a day instead of 2, but I can't change that. Good news is that the flights are pretty cheap from here!

Yeah -- on United, the Friday segment is around $330 and the return is around $220. I'm really hoping it comes down in the next month or so. I booked my wife and youngest daughter already using credit card points, but those tickets don't come with free bags. I have a united club card that gives me 2 bags a person, so I need to book my ticket and my other daughter's ticket using that credit card, which means I have to use miles or pay cash -- but the miles are 50000 round trip per ticket, and I don't want to drop that many miles for such a short flight.

Southwest was showing $350 for each segment and most flights were unavailable.

I'm flying there in October for $220 roundtrip on Southwest and my January tickets on Southwest were around 8800 points on southwest per roundtrip ticket (<$200 per ticket). It's crazy that the week after thanksgiving is that bad.

well, I was originally supposed to fly out on Saturday. I saw Friday tickets were $100 cheaper, so I convinced DW to go a day earlier...so I've already played that card. Also -- the same flight on Thursday is only $70 cheaper, so it's not a huge savings. Not to mention DW and DD2 already have booked tickets, so flying out a day earlier isn't the best option.

I might end up booking the flight that leaves a couple hours earlier and just catch an Uber to the airport with DD4. That flight is $80 cheaper, so $160 minus $30 uber ride yields a savings of $130. I could force DW to get to the airport early, but I already know she'd kill me if I suggested she hang out in the lounge for 3 hours just to save $30 on Uber.

We're still early in the process. Statistically speaking there haven't been a lot of contracts sold to those that are only non qualified and thus might want/need the retail add on. And many of those that might may not have figure it out yet or maybe they are/were waiting on a different resort.

Also, there are people like me who wouldn't use the perks. I know that I can "save money" with the AP's, but that is usually only if I go multiple times a year which is more expensive than our once a year trip, so you're really not saving any money unless you would go more than once a year without the AP. Does that make sense? The discounts are nice, but they don't justify the high price tag of direct. However, using the discounted AP's as justification for why you go more than once a year, well that is just smart thinking.

We have (and will be) making APs work for us by planning 2 trips 11 (or just under 12) months apart. Since we usually go for at least a week, it makes sense. Then we don't renew the AP but wait until the following year, if it's 13, 14 or more months. Like this time, we will have actually gone 16 months between trips, which feels like an eternity!

(I know, the sacrifice! The first world problems...!)

If you go at the end of October one year and at the beginning the following one, you would end doing two trips withint 12 months, so you could take advantage of the annual pass. I'm thinking about doing exactly so for my next two trips, it basically means free tickets for the second trip, which is not bad..

Haha. You're sacrifice is appreciated by all. We will probably do something similar when Star Wars Land opens up with our first ever AP's, so 2019-2020 and then again in 2021-2022 for all of the new stuff coming for the 50th anniversary. I just don't think my DH will ever be a multiple times a year person, but I can still try. I do understand how it can work out for some though and am not knocking it. I was just saying that may affect the lack of 25 point add-one for those that will go once a year or less.

Regarding the value of BLT, I think $100-$105 for a mostly stripped contract is fair. $109-$115 for one with current year's points also seems fair to me. However, if you have a larger contract like the OP, then it will take someone with more liquid cash which narrows your market considerably or someone who will finance it. There are more people looking for 100-150 per points, and the market narrows considerably the higher you get. I am a 200-point contract person, and anything over 210 is really too much for me and many others. There are people looking for the larger contracts but not as many as looking for the small(er) ones.

My 250 pt BLT just sold for $113.

So I'd say the market value of 200+ pt BLTs is around 110 stripped - 125 loaded.

That should give the OP some real world up-to-the-minute data.
