What is allowed when doing cash ressie?

Scenario:
My friends and I plan on taking trip May 2008. I will only have enough points to cover my family but will not have enough to cover them.

What are my options? More specifically - can I cover their vacation with points and pay cash for mine through member services? If I go through member services to use for vacation do I get to make reservation at home resort 11 months out? Do I get a discount?

Any advice or help would be appreciated!

Cash reservations are not always available right at 11 months. The 25% DVC discount is not always available regardless when you reserve.

You might be able to secure DVC cash reservations, but you may also have difficulty. It's even possible to find discounted rooms at DVC resorts right thru CRO.

If the cash discount is available, you can certainly allow your friends to stay in a villa reserved using points and use the discounted room yourself.
