What is AK like with evening extra hours?

June 26 2006 has park hours of 9-8 it is the evening extra hour. Is the park open after dark? What's it like? Any info would be great!

On this upcoming trip in March the AK is open late and I can't wait to see this place when it gets dark.

Animal Kingdom is incredible after dark. The lighting is fantastic and Everest is even better at night.

We really enjoy AK after dark. The whole park just seems different somehow. Also, AK is such a hot park during the summer and at night it does seem a wee bit cooler.

There are no torches. The park was built to be open after dark since day one, they just very rarely do it. However it is not new as the park has had late nights on many occasions as far back as its opening in 1998. Now however with EEMH it happens more often.

We just got back today. We found the Animal Kingdom is usually packed because of Expedition Everest. I'm sure Extra Magic Hour nights are going to be extra packed.

In late November, AK was open til 8:00, and at that time of year, that's several hours of dark. There were no animals out, but the there were hardly any people there either. My guess would be, therefore, that it would be a good time to ride EE. I took the train to Conservation Station and I was the only one on the train, either way (the walk from the train station to the building was interesting in the dark). There was absolutely NO ONE in Africa. If you want to see the characters, this is a good time-I walked down to where Pooh and Eeyore are (across from Flame Tree) and the only one there with them was the CM. I rode Triceratop Spin 3 times in a row without getting off (I did it so I could get the great views of the Tree of Life lit up in the dark). I thought it was an absolutely great time to be in AK. DH and I are going to WDW in May, and I've already told him that I don't care what else we do, but we MUST do Evening MH at AK.

We aren't huge AK fans, and usually only go there once per trip for two or three hours; after reading this post, however, I think we will definitely make two trips - one in the morning and one in the evening (on an EMH night.) I never thought about AK after dark, but I am now very curious.

I wish we could do this when we go but our Extra Magic Hours are only from 5:00 - 8:00...
