Does does anyone know what is across from staterooms 2086-2098 & 2586-2598?
Or 2048-2054 & 2548-2554? It's shown as gray areas on the deck plans.
We had stateroom 2022 a few weeks back and we loved deck 2 other than th fact the room was across from the service entrance for the crew and it was noisy from about 6 am each morning with the door being slammed every few minutes.
There is a good chance we'll book deck 2 for Alaska but wondering what is cross from these rooms.

Well, it crew space, but as to whether (or where) the door(s) may be along those stretches - who knows? We've been in 2552 and 2090, and I don't recall any slamming doors (maybe I just chalked it up to rude passengers not being aware that the doors slam when they close).

That's what I thought the first morning! That it was fellow passengers. I realized soon after it was the crew when I was in bed around midnight and heard the door again a few times, looked out and saw the crew member go inside.
It didn't bother me other than some early mornings.

Also -from the 2 rooms you mentioned - which side would you recommend for best views in Alaska ports? Or does it matter.

The 'public' laundry room is across from stateroom 2096. Not sure about the other areas.

The noise issue you should be concerned about with those state rooms is not what's across from them but rather what's above. The 2500 rooms have galley area above them, while the 2000 rooms have the walkway and the promenade lounge. Much more likely to hear noise from the galley at night.

We'll be in room 2592 on the Wonder in 2 weeks, can report when we get back about any noise. In 2014 we were on deck 2, mid-ship in a 20-something cabin, it was quiet. We were really close to the mid-ship elevators. We weren't in the cabin much to notice the views.

Personally, I don't think it matters. We're typically up on deck enjoying the views in Alaska, not in our room except to sleep.

I wouldn’t watch the sights from the porthole of course, I was more thinking what side of the port we’d be facing... when we wake up and get ready I like to open the curtains and look outside before we leave our room.
However on our recent Southern Caribbean cruise, most islands we faced the port area and saw people right there... well it didn’t help that the gangway wasn’t below our room too.

Well we never heard a thing from the above, but did from across... big time.
Like I said the crew door was right there and used by several people. So from 6 am it was constant door shutting. It makes the same kind of noise as your stateroom door if you just let it go.
Doesn’t normally bother me if it’s here and there, but 10x in a row... well that will wake ya ;)
Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a huge problem.. it didn’t wake my kid up which was good.
He woke up with the morning announcements at 8 am made by the cruise director. Actually that was very odd, even though they were not made into our rooms, you could hear it inside the room as if it was.
On our other cruises we had to open the door to the hallway to hear them.
It was a nice wake up call though, by 8 I definitely want to be up.

If you look at the plan the grey area between 2048-2054 and 2548-2554 is sort of behind the stairwell so I doubt there's much going on back there.

In Alaska we had room 2050 (which is in that region) and couldn't have been happier. It was super quiet. We've booked it again for our upcoming Mediterranean cruise (on the Magic, but essentially the same room) and again for next January on the Wonder in the Southern Caribbean. I don't remember anything being across from us except wall. Certainly nothing noisy. We put my mom in 2552 on our last trip on the Magic and she was very happy with it. Again, nothing noisy - she's a really light sleeper so we wanted to be careful about our choices.

Thank you! Between you and PrincessShmoo I have a few staterooms I can ask for when Alaska opens :)
We still prefer Verandah but in Alaska it will be more about the excursions so deck 2 oceanview is our 2nd best.
Actually if deck 2 had balconies it would be our favourite. Loved the convenience!
