What is a really good pine scent for the house?

With the Slatkin candles, you don't need anything around the top to get them to burn evenly. :)

And the jars are crystal clear when the candle is finished, not all black and sooty like the YC. :)

Not to nitpick, but do you see black sootiness around that jar? ;) None of mine have it.

I'll give the FB a try. I was hesitant to try the Slatkin candles because they're kind of unpredictable in terms of fragrance level, and this is coming from a lifelong (well, since they've been around) B&BW fan and former employee. I've had a few of their candles that had almost no fragrance whatsoever; with YC, I always know what I'm getting. But I'm curious now about Fresh Balsam, since it's one of the newer line of candles.

I posted something similar the other week. I said that I was upset that we don't have a real tree, so I don't get the pine smell in the house. Well CAnn suggested going to the arts and crafts store and getting pine OIL. You put in on a cotton ball, and put them around the house. I haven't gotten any yet, but hope to do so soon. Maybe tonight!!

They also make little clay jars that can be have oil added to them and then hung from the branches of the tree, as well as clay diffuser rings that may be placed on lightbulbs in lamps (but only do the latter when you're at home in case something goes wrong and it overheats.) I used the clay jars hanging from the tree a few years ago and liked the fragrance level they provided. As a plus, they can also be used as car fresheners hung from the rearview mirror, etc, with different fragrances.

Hmm... I have both the Fresh Balsam and the Evergreen in my house right now - one upstairs and one downstairs. I think the Evergreen smells more like a real pine scent - althought I like the Balsam and it is a very clean smell. I just think the Evergreen smells more realistic to what pine would smell like.

Anyone tried the Tree scent from B&BW? I've only seen it online...

Tree is FANTASTIC. I buy some oil every year, along with Winter. Winter does have a piney smell to it, but it also reminds me of that Constant Comment tea, the one that has Tang in it. It's got like a pine/spice/slight orange/cinnamon fragrance that I ADORE. I load up every year on Wallflowers (unfortunately, Tree in WF form has very little fragrance), and the Winter scent lasts until the last drop of oil is gone. I have one plugged in underneath my desk so I get to smell it all day. :goodvibes

Tree has good staying power in home fragrance oil form and candle form, or at least it has in years past. I haven't tried this year's fomulation of the scent yet to know for sure on it.

Do you get these are arts and crafts stores like Michales and AC Moore as well??

I am so sad that B&BW discontinued their Fresh Pine scent from last Christmas. It smelled EXACTLY like the Yacht Club lobby, and I loved it!! I had planned to buy a ton this year, but instead they have THREE vanilla scents!! I did get the Fresh Balsam, and it is similar and smells nice, but I wish they had the scent from last year.

Michaels had both the jars and the lamp rings when I worked there, though that was 3 years ago when I was in school. They were in the candle aisle on a shelf right by where they have the fragrance oils and oil warmers and stuff like that. It only takes a few drops on the lamp ring every few hours for a good amount of scent; you can use maybe a little more in the jars, but be sure not to hang them where they might bump up against a porous ornament or one that could be stained. I'd imagine the oil might stain whatever it touches. The clay is porous, so it soaks the oil right up and you'll see it start to kind of seep to the outside of the jar.

I'm not sure if AC Moore has them; we don't have those stores around here. :)

I can't burn candles, I get a massive migraine every time I light one :headache:

I would LOVE the smell of Christmas in my home but I can;t find any of the plug in sents i like yet. does anyone have a fav. they would like to share? thanks :goodvibes

B&BW, unfortunately, does love their vanilla scents. Three new ones, in addition to Warm Vanilla Sugar, Vanilla Noir, and Fresh Vanilla (which isn't a regular but will be back for the Semi-Annual Sale) is a bit overkill, IMO.

If you really want stuff in Fresh Pine, you might try eBay. That's where I've always found retired scents that I'm desperate to have. :)

Personally, I've found the one that gives me the most bang for the buck, so to speak, is Winter from Bath & Body Works. I described what it smells like a few posts up. To me, it smells like Christmas as opposed to smelling like a pure pine fragrance. I loooooooove it. If you have a store near you, I'd suggest getting in there quickly to see if you like it. I don't know how supply levels are these days as I haven't worked for the company in 2 years, but every Christmas in the past, Winter was the one they sold out of first. I bought 5 boxes for myself earlier in the fall and, when combined with the probably 3-4 I had left over from past Christmases, I should be set for a while.

b&bw has a sale spend $30.00 get a $10 off coupon- i got 3 fresh balsum candles for $20 - they had it burning and the whole top floor of the mall smelled like christmas - i love it and yes it has been burning clean not like the yankees which do get black, and that black you see is bad for your lungs.

I know!! I mean, I like a little vanilla, but come on! :snooty::rotfl:

Thanks for the eBay idea...I didn't even think of that!

Have you tried candle warmers? My mom uses one in her office and has the whole place hooked! You get the scent, but no flame. Not sure what gives you the migraines, but if it happens to be anything associated with the flame/smoke, these may be an option. :)

With the candle warmers, you just set your candle on top of it (looks like a coaster) and it warms the wax so you can smell the scent. They work with any jar candle, so if you've found a jar candle you like, you can use the warmer to get the scent.

I love Thymes Frasier Fir candles. They smell so clean and fresh. :thumbsup2

I am also a Yankee candle fan, particularly Christmas Eve, but now I am going to have to try the Bath and Body Works candles too.
