What is a RAVE????

I feel really stupid, but I have heard this in the news a lot lately and I don't really know what it means. Is it a party and are they legal??? They seem to be a problem whatever they are.

Dance held in a place not sanctioned for it. (i.e. usually in a warehouse or something along the lines)

The stereotype is that this is where ecstacy and other drugs (GHP) are used more frequently.

Usually these are dances that aren't sponsored by any specific group. So some are legal and some aren't (the ones that obtain permits are legal)

Someone in my Speech class did a presentation on Raves. That was the first I ever heard of them. From her presentation, it didn't look like such a good thing.

While not every Rave has illegal substances available, most do. Not every person going is X-ing (or on another drug), but a whole lot are.

The movie Go revolves around a rave.

A GOOD Rave can be a lot of fun...assuming you're into the music and like to jump around and dance a lot. Like others have said, they aren't all illegal and usually its mostly the illegal ones that have the biggest drug problems. They basicly will just pass around the drugs like its candy: acid and "x" are the two biggest ones.
