Forgive me if this is answered elsewhere. All the forums are a bit overwhelming for a newbie! I've been reading about them in threads, but can't get my head around what they are, exactly. Googling doesn't help, either! I get that they are a discount, but more info would be helpful!

A pin is a code that you receive by e-mail or snail mail for a discounted rate at the resorts.HTH

Or something like that! Discounts sent to people either by E-Mail or Snail Mail, direct from Disney! They are a Mystery of the Disney Magic Makers! :wizard:

Disney has several types of discounts available. The most common discussed here are the ones for the General Public and the PIN codes. A General Public discount is just that-- anyone can call and book that discount. You can find out about these from the boards here, other Disney boards, a Travel Agent, word of mouth, TV ad, or Disney may send you an email or snail mail promoting that discount.

A PIN code will only come to you by email or snail mail. It will look like a regular Discount offer but somewhere in it will be fine print that says to call Disney or your TA and give them this code: 1234567890 . Just like you have a PIN for your bank card (Personal Identification Number) this code is for you only and the discount is only available if you have that code. Because the code is is not transferable we don't allow PIN codes to be posted here. Wouldn't do any good anyway because when you call the code has to match what they have in the system. Usually the codes are either better than the current offer available or are for times when the General Public Discount isn't.

To book with a PIN code you have to call Disney Reservations or a Travel Agent and give them that number. You can't book it online. People who don't think they have received a PIN code, or deleted the email will call and ask if there is a code in their system under their name. Usually if there is they will go ahead and let you book with it.

So don't delete any emails or throw away any mail flyers until you are absolutely sure that you won't be booking a trip!
