Having a party for DH, and am having a maple brown sugar cure sprial ham as the main dish...

The sides so far are potato casserole and green salad!

ACCK! I need help! What else?

This is for 21 people (17 adults 4 kids)

and for this Saturday!

I've always liked scalloped potatoes with my ham!

Scalloped potatoes have always been our traditional side dish to go along with baked ham.

How about deviled eggs and stuffed celery? We usually have potato salad but that may be a bit too heavy on the potatoes.

broccoli is nice

green beans

asparagus

Actually, any bright green veggie to go along with the colors....

my mother always served macaroni and cheese with ham. It's yummy!

apple sauce or pear salad, Sweet potatoes, green beans broccolli or Spinach casserole.

How about glazed baby carrots? That would add a nice color to your plate. Sometimes I have broccoli casserole with ham too. I like Planogirls idea of deviled eggs and stuffed celery. Maybe a big relish tray that included items that they could also add to their salad.

Anyone else getting hungry?

I have a fantastic recipe for pineapple stuffing. It's got white bread cubes, crushed pineapple, butter, a little sugar and eggs I think. If you want, I could dig it out. It's very easy and everyone always loves it.

Since you already have a potato dish, how about green bean casserole. You know - the kind you make at Easter and Thanksgiving with cream of mushroom soup and french fried onions... YUMMY with ham!!

Traditional sides (for LARGE group meals) with baked ham here are: scalloped potatoes, chunky applesauce, green bean casserole, corn pudding & "green junk". That last one is a jello salad with pineapple, cream cheese, marshmallows & maraschino cherries. . . it never had a real name that I know of.

For large groups I like to serve a relish tray with celery, olives, pickles & spiced apple rings. We also like broccoli salad - the one with bacon & raisins in it. Recently, though, I used the one from the Beach Club with cranberries & think I'll use those now instead of regular raisins! ;)

LOL :D :jester: :D

Sha_lyn - How about sharing your pear salad recipe? That sounds really good!

Nanalisa - Your broccoli casserole sounds interesting, too. DS (21)likes his broccoli disguised, though DD (11) eats it plain. Care to share?

Thanks for all the suggestions...

Green bean casserole sounds good, and easy...

We usually eat our vegetable plain/steamed so this would be a different way to do it...

We are having a pumpkin/bourbon vanilla cake as well... (I'm not making that, ordered it!)

Ok and sweet potato casserole, any one have a good easy recipe on that, or would that be too many potatos?

Thanks!
