What is a good resource to check for cancellations??

I am wondering what is the best resource to check for dinner cancellations. (Specifically, looking for Garden Grill cancellations)..however raises the question.

We're leaving in 3 days. Have ressies for places, but at the last minute my 2 girls indicate they really would like a character meal after all!! ARGH! (I thought they were too big and didn't make any). So, I called yesterday and they are hard to come by.

So, I am wondering if there is a good place to check for cancellations, do you just keep calling the WDW dine hone, or go the counter of the restaurant to check?

Any advise appreciated.. we leve in 3 days...
