What Is A Good Program For Making A Slide Show?

A couple years ago I went to a family reunion and one of the ladies had taken a bunch of family pictures and made it into a slideshow with music and everything. I've decided this is something I like doing. I had a version of Roxio 5. I really liked it because I could add different audio files to the photos. I could add text and different color backgrounds. I could have title page to announce what was to come. However, once I saved it, I couldn't go back into it and edit.

So, off I headed to Best Buy. I told them exactly what I wanted to be able to do, and they sold me a program that did absolutely nothing I wanted it to do. So, I headed back to Best Buy and got Roxio 6 DVD Bulder. It's very easy to enter the pictures. It's very easy to add audio. I can add wma files which seems to be everything I have on my computer. It's very easy to add audio. It's very easy to save. That's about it. I can no longer have more than one audio file on one movie. Well, I can, but I have to go into a program and make my files mp3, then I have to combine my songs into one file in another file. Then I have go back to Roxio 6 and insert the merged file. I have to save the file as a wma file or I can't put it in Roxio. But, if I need to edit that audio file, I can't open it back up in my edit program because it only opens mp3 files....

I did get a final product last night, and it was fairly simple to do once I figured it al out. However, there are a lot of steps involved. I want to do a "big" project next year, and by that time have found a program I really like. I was hoping someone here could help me out with this. Here is what I'm looking for:\

1. I want to be able to add my photos very easily. I want to see my photos and be able to click on them to add to the slide show.

2. I want to be able to arrange my photos by dragging them to a different spot within the slide show.

3. Major point here. I want to be able to add multiple audio files without a lot of hassle. I prefer not to have them be mp3, but I can make adjustments.

4. I want to be able to add text to my slideshow.

Can anyone tell me if such a program is available? Sorry this post is so long.

Thanks.

not too familiar with it, but have you tried/looked into Powerpoint?

Powerpoint is pretty easy to work with/

It is, I used in in high school but I don't remeber a lot of it. All I know if you could use some really neat effects on images, and you could add sound. I made one slide show with images of skiers who I figured out how to make "ski" across the screen!

Don't have any advice except maybe some of the smart ones over on the tech board may have some good advice....might want to try posting over there, too.

I use Pinnacle Studio myself. It handles stills and video quite nicely.

What about Adobe Photo Album? That one looks pretty good.

I use Adobe Photoshop Album and Microsoft DigitalImage Pro, but you are looking for multiple music stuff. I have seen some of the work Barry has done and sure has multiple music. Ask him a bit more about that Pinnacle program or check it out on the Net.

Thanks for the replies. I tried Power Point a little yesterday. It was a little over my head. So, I'll have to look some more. Maybe I went into the wrong thing. Aprille, I really have no idea what I'm talking about. If it went over your head, it' probably because I have no clue what I'm saying :) I'll check out the others and the tech. board.
