The Dole Whip FLOAT is much, much better than just the plain old Dole Whip.

Don't get me wrong, the Dole Whip is pretty good (although I think a little overrated), but it's KILLER as a float in the pineapple juice.................
Yes! Totally refreshing on a hot Florida day! :sunny:

Allears.net has the following prices listed:

Dole Whip - $2.89
Dole Whip Float - $3.49
Root beer Float -$3.19

I had a Dole Whip in Hawaii at the Dole Plantation and didn't care for it (no taste), and I love pineapple. Is it the same thing?

Well, I don't know how to respond.

Yes, its the same thing,
but WDW Dole Whips are really quite tasty and pineapple-y.

Wow that really does look good... must get one in Feb when I am there... I can't believe I haven't had one yet in all my trips to WDW! :confused3

I told my husband that I wanted to get a dolewhip in the MK.. and he wants to know exactly what it is... so we thought we would ask here? I always have heard great things about it..

Not being negative, just pointing out that there is also the Citrus Swirl at the Sunshine Terrace (my personal favorite) and the Strawberry Swirl at the Enchanted Grove. I have yet to get a Strawberry Swirl, so, I will withhold judgement.

It was pouring down rain all afternoon and close to 7:00 when we were leaving the park a little over a week ago. We had just ridden Pirates and I said to my husband, "I have to try this Dole Whip thing", so we all stopped and I got one. We used a snack credit and my DH asked for a taste. He immediately turned around and got his own! LOL! He said "OMG! That is AWESOME!" :)

Gotta get hip to the WHIP!

:thumbsup2

I had my first Dole Whip this past trip which was Oct28-Nov4th.
Highly over rated, it's ice cream basically. It even comes in chocolate.
I got the pineapple flavored to see what the fuss was all about, talked everyone in our family to gettting some and everyone was "what's the big deal"? Pineapple flavored ice cream.

And some folks don't like Splash Mountain.
But around these parts, we're mighty partial to the WHIPS.

Of course its "ice cream basically."

But you can't get pineapple soft serve at any old DQ or McDs.

Its OK to not like anything at WDW... MORE for ME!

Bless you, Robo. I have walked in circles for the past 3 trips, trying to find this treat. Because it was not on the top of the rest of the family's list, I never found or had a Dole whip. THIS YEAR - I will! Now that I have a clue.

Thanks again -

If you didn't see the announcement on the resorts board the Poly is going to start selling Dole Whips at Captain Cooks when it reopens. Yum. :)

I loooved the Dole Whip I tried!!!! It was yummy. I love pineapples! Yummy yummy yummy! I wish I could make it at home!!! :drinking1

DOLE WHIP RECIPE (VERSION 1)

1 quart Dole pineapple juice
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 cups heavy whipping cream
3 cups sugar
Milk

Mix the pineapple juice and sugar, making sure that the sugar is dissolved.
Next add the cream and vanilla.
Pour the whole mixture into a 4-quart ice cream maker.
Add milk to finish, filling to the fill line.
At this point simply follow the instructions on your ice cream maker.
When the ice cream is ready you can serve it as is or you can stick it in the freezer for a while and let it set up a bit.

===========================================

DOLE WHIP (VERSION 2)

Prep: 10 min.
Freeze: 3 hrs.
Makes: 8 servings

Ingredients:

2 cans (20 oz. each) DOLE Crushed
Pineapple
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped

Drain pineapple; reserve 2 tablespoons
juice. Set aside.

Place pineapple, lemon juice, lime juice,
sugar and reserved pineapple juice in
blender or food processor container. Cover;
blend until smooth.

Pour into two 1-quart freezer zipped bags.
Store bags flat in freezer. Freeze about 1-
1/2 hours or until slushy.

Stir gently pineapple slush into whipped
cream until just blended, in large bowl.
Return to freezer until completely frozen,
about 1 hour. Serve.

I'm sure others know this recipe - but its the easiest and the closest that we've seen for a Dole Whip Float at home:

Blue Bunny (brand) Pineapple Sherbet - sold here at Walmart superstore
Dole Pineapple juice

Scoop Blue Bunny into a cup, add pineapple juice. We like to let it sit a bit and turn it into our own "slushy".

Not the exact kind and certainly not as good as sitting under the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse - but pretty close!

Thank you Robo and Steamboat Marti!!! I will have to try these on my day off. Maybe for desert on Wednesday even? Thanks again!! :sunny:
