what is a disney dining card?

For the code I want to use it mentions that if I'm staying in a value I can get the disney dining card for $20. If I were to stay in a mod, or deluxe the price woud go up.

What is it exaclty and why does the price vary?

This is a special promotion that Disney is using to encourage guests to book rooms during specific weeks, when their inventory is larger. If you book during those dates using that code, you get a gift card worth a specific amount that is to be used for food purchases. Since you pay more for the room as you move up (value to mod to deluxe to DVC) they are giving cards with different amounts based on the level of resort you book. So people who are staying deluxe are paying more and will get a larger dining gift card than people who are in mods, and people in mods are paying more, so they get larger gift cards than people in values. But, hey, free food is free food. My dates just happened to work out as one of the card weeks, so I'll be getting one in December.

Do you know where you can use the dining card? I read on the passholder site that it was at certain locations. I was wondering if it would be everywhere except for the snack stands. I am debating on whether to change our reservation just to get the card.
