What is a BWV PREFERRED VIEW

The preferred view villas have a view of: the waterway to MGM, either the main pool or the quiet pool w/community hall, the boardwalk courtyard, grass/gardens.
The boardwalk view villas all have a fantastic boardwalk view.
The standard view villas face the front of the resort with a view of the parking lots off in the distance, the front entrance, valet parking etc, the tennis courts and partial views of the waterway to MGM.
There are a few preferred view villas that are right at the cut off point where the views change from standard to preferred that do have a view of the valet parking lot in the distance.
Also the preferred view villas that face the waterway to MGM also face the walkway to MGM and a small and narrow pathway/ road that is used by Disney service vehicles & golf carts.

We had a Preferred View for our stay at BWV this month, and we enjoyed a nice view of the quiet pool. Since we were facing MGM we could also enjoy some of the Fantasmic fireworks in the evening. Although the Boardwalk view would be my first choice, I also enjoyed this view too.

Keep in mind that the "preferred" view is actually the routine view. It was never intended to indicate that any room had a good view, only that is was somewhat better than the standard view, or more accurately, that the standard view was worse than the rest.

Often standard views that face parking lots are very close to the lot and are inferior views. In the BWV case, most of the standard views are some distance from the parking lot. We've had them 3 times and all 3 times I was happy with it, we could see and hear Illuminations at night, we were close to the pond and fountain, which is a pretty view. I liked them better than our preferred quiet pool view.

Or BUILDINGS - we had a preferred view room on the first floor that looked directly into the wall/roof of a building about 15 feet outside our window - if you looked to the side you could see a patch of the back corner of the swan; if you jumped up off the ground you could see a patch of water of the canal to mgm over the roof of the building - the building wasn't community hall, it was a small building at the quiet pool, I think some sort of maintanence building. It was the next to last room on that frirst offshoot - go to the elevators, take a right, stay right at every fork, and it was the next to last room. We've also had rooms with community hall view, which is OK, and views of the luna park pool three times - those views are all preferred views, but the luna park view was nicer than the community pool view - you could see tot off in the distance.

I agree that the word "preferred" doesn't mean necessarily "good" - it means "not a parking lot view" and honestly, I think a parking lot view is better than that first floor room was that looked out at the shed building.

I seriously think that they should RENAME the views. Call "standard" view "Entrance view." Call "preferred" view "Water/Garden view." This way when someone gets a "water/garden" view and can see some parking lot in the distance they don't whine and insist on changing rooms because they don't see what is "preferred" about their particular view. I think it would alleviate a lot of confusion.

I agree with the above poster that the problem at the Boardwalk is the names of the views. "Preferred" view (along with the extra points required) implies that the view is somehow good or "preferred" over other views. We were very disappointed when we were assigned a two bedroom villa on the first floor of the villas near the pool. The only thing we could see out of our windows were the backsides of people in swimsuits who were laying out on pool chairs. I think those first floor rooms on the side of the pool should be reclassified as "standard" view. We did ask (very nicely) to change rooms because we were hoping for a better view, and then we were given a great villa on the fourth floor overlooking the water way to MGM. We could see the Swan and MGM Tower of Terror. I was very happy with that view.
