What is 1 unpopular opinion on Travel you have?

I literally can't sleep in an upright position anywhere. Apparently it's some vestige of prehistoric man's survival mechanism from when we used to sleep in trees. My arms literally jerk me awake the second I doze off even semi upright. I read an article about it and finally understood what was happening. It's maddening, to be honest.
I can sleep on an airplane normally quite easily but it's not usually restful sleep moreso because I can't get into the cycle properly.

So the same thing happens to me. The last international flight I took, I took a really large scarf and wrapped myself up really tight - almost like a baby swaddle. And I actually slept!

Ooh...there's an idea! Actually, I do a version of that when I have a migraine and need to sleep in a recliner. I wrap a blanket around me tightly and it does work. Will have to keep that in mind next time I fly. Gonna use a thin travel blanket I just got.

I'm in Canada and I would (and do) fly United and American Airlines before I'd ever fly with Air Canada again.

I have 2 teenage boys. I love taking them on trips separately. Traveling with one other person is so much easier then traveling with 3 other people. Our family trips are fun, but it's so much more relaxing when it's just me and one of my kids or me and my husband. I'm lucky to have a husband that doesn't mind me taking a trip without him.
Would you mind if he took a trip without you? :teeth::duck:

My likely unpopular opinion would have to be I like traveling without my family. I have friends I travel with often and also do some travel for work and always keep evenings free and tack on a day or two if the location is interesting. I have an Orlando conference again this year and I arrive a day early and leave a day late.

I do love traveling with the family as well but also without them. Did a trip to Ireland with 5 friends this year and it was great. My wife also went out west to visit some friends on her own.

I “unpopularly” prefer Air Canada to Westjet by a wide margin. I think Westjetters have drank the Koolaid. And I prefer any non-Canadian airline over both of them for cross-boarder travel simply due to price. They both code-share so much now though that it’s getting harder to find cheaper flights.

No not at all and he has. I don't think there's anything out of the ordinary about that. I have more time off, more flexibility and a greater love of travel.

I don't like ... St. Lucia.

May I ask why?

I have only been to one Caribbean island (St. Lucia) twice when my father lived/worked there; and absolutely loved every second of it. However, when these sorts of questions come up, A LOT of people do not like it.

Obviously, as far as the Caribbean goes I really have no context; and my father knew the places to go, avoid, ect. Just wondering!!

I really like airports, but not the end result of actually having to fly.

I love fastpass tbh. Makes our non-ropedropping party a lot happier. Rides aren't the only thing in WDW.

Not sure why Alaska doesn't attract more BC residents from the lower mainland to fly out of Bellingham. Isn't it far cheaper to fly from there instead of YVR?

Bellingham is too small of an airport for us to fart around with. While I love Alaskan, flying from Bellingham just means you're flying to Seattle and then having another layover. So we either fly from YVR or Seattle if the price is really, REALLY good (which most times it's not. Seems I have a knack for finding good prices from YVR!)

We found the people we interacted with to be very rude and they had an entitled attitude. The first time we chalked it up to having a bad tour operator. It happened again a second time, so we tried it for a third time and had the same experience. Now if the cruise ship stops there we have a ship day.

Interestingly, a co-worker went to a Sandals on St. Lucia and I didn't say anything ahead of time as everyone has different experiences and different tastes. She came back and said that while Sandals was great and they had a wonderful time there, they didn't enjoy any of their interactions with the people outside of Sandals - - they had the same experience we did. On the other hand we know people who have been and loved it.

I always encourage everyone to try things for themselves at least once so they can have their own experience. I'll usually try something two to three times before I'm ready to say never again, whether it be a restaurant, destination, etc., because everyone can off an off day, but I can easily say there's no way I'd be spending any of my vacation dollars again in St. Lucia when there's so many other places that we love.

That you have to travel outside of the US. The US is so incredible, I see no need (don't have the means) to travel elsewhere (other then Canada -LOVE Toronto). We just got back from Boston, and OMG, we had no idea!! What an amazing place, and to think of all the other places we haven't been in the US! No slam on others who can afford to travel elsewhere, but there is a lot to appreciate right here.
