What is 1 unpopular opinion on fashion you have?

I love you - if I could like this a 100 times I would. Every time I see a man in a tank top I think several things and none of them are good.

LOL. There was a family behind us in line at Dumbo recently and it was a man and his 3 sons....all wearing tank tops. My husband looked at me and said, in the most serious voice ever, "if you ever buy our boys tank tops, I will kill you. That looks SO trashy."

I just laughed. I would never. I HATE tank tops on men so, so much. It's just funny that our sons are 12 and 14 and it's never come up before, probably because they have never asked for them and I've never bought them.

I’m not into designer labels. Never have been. My coworker brags about her designer bags and shoes and complains to me, questioning how I can afford to go on vacations all the time and she can’t. Maybe because I buy my purses at Target and my Skechers flip flops are the most expensive pair of shoes I own?

1. I dislike the double standard whereby many people will condemn someone for criticizing women for wearing bikinis, but then those same people will turn around and say men who wear speedos are gross.
Personally, I am not a big fan of the speedo look on most men, but unless that man lives with me, I figure it is none of my business---and calling it "gross" or something similar is just rude.

2. I dislike the trend of wearing PJ bottoms to stores, etc---have enough respect for others to actually get dressed when going to their business, etc.

3. If you take your child on a cruise, use it as great way to teach them about dressing for the occasion, how to be comfortable in formal clothes, how to meet new people, etc----don't teach them that these things don't matter by shrugging off the suggested attire because "my teens only own shorts" or whatever

I don't know why, but for some reason the tank top hate here makes me that much more excited to wear them in the parks next week. I don't wear them around in typical weather, but in Florida I can either wear a tank top or a sweat soaked t-shirt. Both are gross so I settle on what I view as the lesser of two evils. I will wear mine with a greater amount of pride now.

The 1980's were the most awesome-est decade ever for hair and fashion.

Those guys on he left really do look feminine.

We cruise on mass market family friendly cruise lines, we are not bringing any formal wear. My kids end up meeting a lot of new people. However, around here, kids have other places to be formal, first communion, confirmation, weddings, 6th and 8th grade dances, junior formal, senior prom, tons of sweet 16’s, plus lots of little ones are dressed to the nines for holidays like Christmas, Easter and thanksgiving.

Stop buying so many clothes everyone! You do not need a new clothing item every week! It is not helping the 3rd world manufacturers, it's not helping our planet, and you already have something to wear in your closet!

On the other hand, if there are leisure suits and polyester disco shirts (not of the new dry fabrics) or denim jackets in your closet, get rid of them and buy some clothes. Oh and shave those sideburns already will ya?

To me, the very notion of dressing up on a boat seems bizarre :)

100% with you on this.

My daughter is a clothes horse and I have now told her that for every one new piece that comes in, one old one has to go. Either give it away, or sell it, or donate it but it has to go!

I don't care or even notice what people wear as long as it covers them up. I'm always surprised people notice. I notice hair, I notice tattoos, I notice bare skin, I notice makeup, but I rarely notice clothes.

I find the idea that anyone else would care what I'm wearing really hard to grasp. (Unless, as I said, I was wearing less clothing than the norm. A bikini in church I'd expect people to notice.)

Ok, about the yoga pants, I am a gymnastics coach. Yoga pants are what I wear to work. I do run errands before or after work and I don’t change out of my work clothes first. Sometimes yoga pants are ok to wear in public.
Lululemon is pretty much the standard uniform around here for teens to elderly. Was in our local school not too long ago and I think 3/4 of the teachers had yoga pants on. Not unusual to see moms in their yoga pants and sports bras (with or without a loose tank over it) everywhere you go. The guys are in their cycling shorts and shirts. I would be right there with them if I had the body!
