What instruments do you play ?

I can play the viola, and I want to learn how to play the guitar, but all I have is my mom's old Hawaiian made acoustic guitar that's meant to be played in slack key (with 3 steel and 3 nylon strings LOL) and I don't have a pick. ;~;

I found one in my closet yesterday.

I know how to play the cello. I was in orchestra at school from 6th-9th grade. If I had a good director I would have went way further.... but let's just say I couldn't stand him a whole other year lol. I really really want to learn how to play the piano!

i played clarinet for three years. but that was four years ago. i probably can only make it squeal now.

I can play :

Euphonium/Baritone/Tenor Tuba
Trombone
Any low brass instrument really, I really REALLY want to try Tuba, but..never gotten the chance to.

I am such a big band geek.
I can't wait until marching band!!

I love my instrument with all my heart and soul.

I actually LISTEN to big band and marches (god I LOVEEEE K.L.King) for fun and inspiration :)

I'm currently learning how to play "Canton Aero Club" by K.L.King

the reason why I do this, is because im past all the bands levels in my school. So..i have to keep pushing myself to learn, but i cant learn at school. (but im still in band class because I love it :))

Its weird but..yeah.

Go band!!

trumpet (:
festive overture is a pain in the @$$! >:O

:scared1:
I bet it is.

Ive found that most songs with the word "overture" in them are annoying.

We are playing one now in band, and...theyre making me play the tenor sax part..and..its SOOOO high. I mean..i usually play in the staff or a bit above it, but..this is like..an INCH above the staff (but its totally awesome) but annoying!!

I bet teachers pick "overtures" just to watch us struggle

oh boy, the opening..which is a pretty heavy trumpet part I think..is pretty high...and I'm second chair :scared1: Have you heard festive? I actually kind of like it when we're not playing it :/

I couldn't find a good one with no strings. But we don't have strings for this...and basically the saxes play the string part I think.

and not to mention..there is a RAW clarinet solo in it..and all the clarinets in my bad...lets just say..they aren't too hot :/

But my lips are DEAD by the middle of the song.

Drums,Piano,Just a little bit of trombone (quit after one year)

Ah yes!
This song is crazy.

:/
I never got clarinets (no offence) but i never understood why they need 4 rows.
Same goes to flutes.

I kinda dont like flutes and clarinets. Just because half the time they have melody doesn't mean theyre god.

Brass is where its at. A band isnt a band without brass.

We are playing this little ditty...and..its actually quite harder then it sounds! Maybe its just hard because in the middle of the song, i pick up the melody and its not..hard but it knocks the wind out (loooots of piping to go through and..not a lot of time to breathe)
but..its actually one of my favorite songs at the moment xD i love it!

OMG. I love that song! Need any more trumpets? :p
That song must be so fun, yet it still sounds challenging.

Brass>Woodwinds :p
Especially low brass. I really love low brass...too bad I picked the trumpet. go figure

:goodvibes

The saxophones tuning note gives me a headache :lmao:

Yeah, its crazy! For once I said to my band director "Nice pickins!":rotfl:
Well...we COULD use some more trumpets (they kinda all suck...:rolleyes1 )

I play guitar and some bass. I can;t do the finger picking with bass very well I have to use a pick lol

Excuse me.
Brass instruments are loud. Woodwinds are not. Especially flute and clarinet. compensation.

I think it's not so much loudness as it is quality. I'm fine with loud as long as it doesn't sound bad :/
Eh, but if you have good quality you prolly aren't playing too loud.
Now I'm just contradicting myself. This is really hard to word.

But I agree. We ARE loud.
The girl who plays flute in the row in front of the first chair trumpet is practically deaf now. poor girl.
And the low brass section in my band just like to show off.
