What instruments did/do you play?

I started taking piano as an adult! I can play easy renditions of songs, which is fun and I'm hoping to continue to improve.

I played trumpet from 4th grade up until about 7th grade. There were only two of us girls who picked the trumpet to play. The rest were all boys.

By 7th grade, I was getting bored playing the trumpet and switched to using my voice. I love to sing (still do) and dropped band for chorus. I was in chorus from 8th grade up until 12th grade. Even though I love to sing, don't ask me to sight read. I can't do that to save my life! LOL.

I also like playing the piano and keyboards, but I don't know how to really play it with two hands. I can hear a song with keyboards and love it to the point where I want to learn it. But it's just the melody without the chords.

The first song that I can remember learning by ear was "Call Me" by Blondie. I just started playing the melody on my electric organ (it was designed for kids and was kind of cheaply made).

I can play the piano a little. I would love to own one, now that we have the space. I may look for a good used one,

Try Craigslist!

My DH loves to browse around that site, and last summer came across a piano for sale near us. It turned out the owner was moving to an apartment and couldn't take it with her. It is in excellent condition, and after some research we knew we were getting it for a fair price. We had always planned to get one at some point, so this was a great opportunity to go ahead and do it.

Piano and Saxophone here. Though I don't play as often now.

I started out on trumpet in fifth grade and have stayed with it my whole life (I'm coming up on 61). I also started playing guitar when I was about 14/15 and still play. In high school I played everything I could get my hands on, including french horn, saxophone (alto, tenor, and C melody), clarinet, and organ/piano. I started playing bass guitar about 30 years ago.

I still play trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, and keybord. The guitar on bass guitar keep me very busy playing with a number of different groups a week.

I am a horn player (it isn't French, but most refer to it as such anyway... :sad2: the modern horn was invented by a German) On a related note, there are no other "horns", only horns are "horns" - a trumpet is not a horn, a saxaphone is most definitely not a horn. I guess Jazz musicians are just too lazy to get out that extra syllable to say trumpet instead of horn... :rolleyes1

I can also play pretty much any other brass instrument and have performed on all others except tuba, but would like the chance some day. But besides horn the trombone and euphonium are my other two biggies. I haven't played trumpet in my years due to the embrouchure differences.

I also know how to play piano (gotta do it for college music degrees!) but I don't play because it hurts my back. I can hack out a melody and some harmony for the church choir if necessary, but would rather not.

I am learning guitar (accoustic and classical) in lieu of playing piano so that I can have something more usefull for leading church services than the horn, which is quite annoying to lead worship with, especially if you are trying to play, sing, and direct at the same time! :scared1: :scared:

I'm a middle school band director, so I can play most instruments of the band. Saxophone is my primary instrument, & I'm pretty good on the clarinet. I play in our church band (large church, contemporary music).

My undergrad degree is in Music Ed (and Psyc) and was trained to be a band director - which I am not. BUT, I play woodwinds semi-professionally now. I also play guitars, piano and strings (violin, etc). I play "at" brass, but I'm not proficient with them.

Yeah, but only horn players make this distinction. :p

I play the piano. Not well, unfortunately. I took lessons off and on for about 4years when I was a kid.

I took piano lessons for eight years. I can't play at all anymore though.

I was in a drum and bugle corps for a few years, and played the xylophone. Why I had to pick the heaviest instrument in the corps I do not know. We used to march in four parades on July 4th--absolute torture!

I also took saxophone and guitar lessons, but I stunk at both.

Played the violin for ten years - was able to play at the Academy of Music for several years. That was a wonderful experience for a teenager.

When I switched high schools, the new one didn't have an orchestra, just a band, so I started playing the saxophone. Not as much fun for me, though.

And I did band camp (except if was orchestra camp for me!)

I used to play the violin. My dream is to play again one day.

ohhh my Bodhran came in today!! It sounds wonderful!!!

When I was in school I played the clarinet. Unfortunately I was awful! Our school used to put on band concerts and I remember the band teacher told me not to blow during the concert....just sit there and move my fingers!!!:rotfl: Yeah, turns out music wasn't my thing.

I "play around" on the piano. I played the saxophone, basson and contra bass in the high school band.

I tried to play the violoin, that didn't work too well.

I have always wanted to play the harp.

I also always wanted to be in a band :rockband: , I think I'd be a decent drummer.
