The purpose of this Assignment is to get out and have fun using our cameras, maybe learning a few things along the way, so pictures should be new as often as possible (though if you have a relatively new picture that fits a category, you can use it). All cameras and skill levels are welcome.

This could be one that we run until end September 2015. No prizes can be rewarded other than recognition for a job well done!

Where possible, please use pictures taken from January 2015 as the intent of this assignment is to get out and about.

If you post a picture, please share what you did to take the picture irrespective of whether you shoot with a point and shoot or a dSLR or phone camera. For those with a dSLR, please include your ISO, aperture and shutter speed; as well as a brief description of anything that might help others learn from your experience.

What I'm Focussed On - Scavenger Hunt 2015

It's been a while since we’ve run a photography scavenger hunt on the DisBoards. Personally, I have a soft spot in my camera lenses for the scavenger hunts. I used them to learn how to take pictures and I know I learnt a lot just by looking at the shots other photographers were taking.

For this summer of 2015, I've pulled out the list originally compiled by pea-n-me (and thank you for graciously allowing us to re-use this list!). The list is marked with asterisks:

  • items without asterisks are considered common;
  • items with one asterisks are considered harder to find; and,
  • items with two asterisks are considered rare.

This one will run until end September 2015.

So...I hope that you'll dust off your cameras, download the list and post along. Here's hoping that we keep this thread jumping on the boards!

Please share your shots!

I'm so excited. Thanks for starting this thread Princess!
May I ask a question? Do we get to pick an item from the list at any time?

Mike - You get to shoot anything on that list at any time. Good luck with the hunt!

Oh my! This is a lovely thread! I'll be lurking happily here!

I love the scavenger hunts and will be joining in. May even have a picture or too from the last month or so, will definitely have to look.

Princessinoz I love the fireworks pictures. One thing I have not perfected yet or even come close.

@PythonFan888 You know I love the picture of the whales....but what I have loved more is that you've taken the starting mark back to August 2014. That means I get to pull out some of my pictures taken in October last year when I was in SoCal. ;)

Looking forward to another fun hunt!!

YAY! Glad you're here.

Nice view of sunrise? Is this near where you live?

2015 might be your year to make peace with those Firework Gods! Any plans for going out on Independence Day???

I live in Philadelphia, the birthplace of Independence and have usually avoided all of the crowds. Maybe I will tag along with one of my kids and the grandkids this year for fireworks. There is a wonderful display over the riverfront but I always watch on the TV. I may just have to go. Of course I really need to learn how to change all of the settings on my camera. It is somewhat new and I never read the manual.

I am headed to the zoo today so maybe I can find an elusive zookeeper.

I would if I could take a picture half as wonderful as all of yours!
