If I found out that I couldn't do band...
Well, you see, this happened to me last summer. My school doesn't offer an arts program, and guidance at my school told me to take it up with the band director at the School I Would've Gone To. I couldn't get a straight answer from
anyone until 2 days before band camp. My friend who goes to another school and I pushed, prodded, and poked all summer just to get in to the band.
And we did.
If you can't do something, you don't take no for an answer. You persevere, push, prod, yell, and make a point to drive the opposing force home.
My school is one of the highest ranked schools in the state. (Well, at least the district is. My school doesn't have that much of a reputation - yet.) Getting accepted to that school is a really grueling process, and everyone deems you pretty damn special if you get accepted. Most of us go to school the first day thinking that we're going to be the best of the best. What a slap in the face.
I've had my fair share of failed tests, lost labs, and forgotten homework. The first month of school was such a kick to my gut, I considered dropping.
But I didn't.
I kept with it.
I'm not the smartest kid in the school, nor am I dumb enough to be put on PIP. [Tutoring.] You find a way to work with your setbacks to make you stronger.
