What if your side loses?

Okay, clearly from my posts I am voting democrat for a myriad of reasons.

Other nice people here are voting rebublican also for a myriad of reasons.

What would you do and how would you feel if your "side" lost?

I'd be really disappointed but I wouldn't go extreme and move to London. (Although, to be honest, that's come up in my household as an option). I would fear for the world (I'm kinda anti-war) and I would worry for a women's right to choose. (No choice is not an option to me and I feel it is government intruding on my life).

Frankly, I worry if the Dems lose. Will there be rioting in the streets?

I'd be very worried, but life goes so and so would I. :confused3

Nothing will happen right away. However, if we push our agenda on more and more countries, if we lose women's rights, if we lose more of our personal freedoms, yeah I might move because this will cease to be the America I know and love.

I don't think that would happen. :)

It would happen if someone won due to questionable circumstances, though. I don't think our country wants another one of those to happen for either side.

I'd do what I've done when disappointed the last two Presidential elections, I'd wake up on Wednesday, kiss my wife and daughters, fix everyone breakfast, go into work and keep on chasing that green.

Even with the poor excuse for a president that we've had over the last 7+ years, America's given my family so much to be thankful for. As far as I'm concerned, there's still no other place in the world that I'd rather live.

If McCain wins I will ask those who pray to pray for his good health, and the health of the supreme court justices. I will worry what war he will start next and hope he keeps his finger off the red button. I will move our investments into something very safe, maybe we'll start putting money under the mattress. I will hope nothing happens to our health care coverage. I will take lessons in Chinese because they will soon own the USA, lock, stock, and barrel.

I will also hope that the Dems get enough control in the Congress that they will be able to block McCain on the big issues.

As a Republican, I will support the President because I think anyone in that office deserves respect even if I disagree with them. I will continue to fight for what I believe and work to get candidates whose views I support into office.

I know many Democrats hate George Bush, but you have to understand that many Republicans felt the same way about Bill Clinton. I didn't agree with much of what President Clinton stood for, but I respected him because my fellow countryman chose him to be the leader of our country. I will do the same if Barack Obama is elected.

Our country was set up with checks and balances for a reason. I don't believe that any side will ever have too much power. That's what makes America great, and why I consider myself an American first and a Republican second.

:thumbsup2

Life goes on. I'm certainly not going to get so worked up I give myself a nosebleed (I just love that nosebleed line from "Titanic" :)) nor would I be so outraged that I'd go ballistic on the "other side" for choosing a direction other than my own. My country is still my country, my friends are still my friends, no matter how they vote.

I think this post hits the nail on the head for most Americans. All you need to do is reverse republican/democrat and Bush/Clinton and you have me!

Honestly, good post! We just want what is best for America, don't we? I bet 90% of everyone feels this way, too.

Thanks! I agree that we all want what is best for America! Now why can't we all get along?:flower3:

If they lose, then they lose....it means they didn't reach enough voters to support them.
It is how our system is.

The "winner", no matter which side, is going to have a difficult time. That is a fact.

But in the end, it will go as it is supposed to imo.

Either way we are beginning to change things and this is history in the making, the beginning. Never thought I would see an election like this.

I'd be upset for the first couple of years and then I'd get over it. :lmao:

I was raised to the maxim that "If you don't like it then get out and don't let the door hit you in the behind."

Well, I've always wondered what it might be like to live in England.

I don't understand why you say this. Are you saying Obama supporters are more violent or what?

I think that both sides are more afraid of what will happen if the other side wins, when in reality, I don't think we'd see a whole lot of difference in the long run.

If Obama wins I will pray for our country, take a big old breath, and give him a fair chance. I will wish him luck. If he wins it will mean the majority of America wants him. What can you do other than simply accept the will of the people?

Ditto. Except I have a husband, not a wife. And no kids. I do have a dog though! ;)

Not really. I just mean the majority, or maybe even a plurality, that voted, wanted him.
