What if you don't want to take kids out of school?

Mulanrouge--I would take off school Feb. 14-16th and return on Feb. 21st. The week that will be super crowded is Feb. 21st-25th. That's 3 days you'd miss of school, and you'd have the weekend before also. You wouldn't have two full weeks, but Feb. 11 through Feb. 21st. Think of it this way, you will get so much more done that week before presidents week when the crowds are low that you won't need to stay as long.

Give the teachers plenty of notice of when you will be gone. I don't think it's as difficult to miss a few days of school that fall right before a long break. Teachers are usually not introducing new material during that time.

For what it's worth, the Unofficial Guide's crowd calendar suggests that only the Sat/Sun/Mon of Feb 19-21st will be busy, and "busy" means "almost but not quite as bad as your typical July day." In other words, manageable if you have a plan for how to attack the parks. The other days around that time are "not bad".

I'm taking DD in 4th grade and DD in 1st grade out next week. Nov 6th-13th. The 11th is Veterans Day so they will miss 4 days of school. I already told the teachers and they were both fine with it-in fact the 4th grade teacher started giving us Disney Tips! She was there this summer and was so excited for us. I figured this may be our "once in a lifetime" trip and was able to get an unbelievable rate for the Poly so we are going for it. DD #1 is an excellent student but I don't think I would be comfortable taking her out after this year. DD#2 has had strep throat 6 times in less than a year so she may be getting her tonsils out early next year which will mean missing 2 more weeks of school:earseek: Anyway, the point of this long, rambling post is if we are lucky enough to get to go to Disney again in a few years, we'll be braving the crowds and or heat to do it!!
