What if you don't use all your credit?

Can you cash out at the end of the cruise? Say I book Cat 6 for $3900 and then a FL resident rate comes up after paid in full for $2800. I probably "could" spend the $1100 credit onboard but, what if I didn't?

They credit your card back within a week or so after the cruise.

You can just credit my on board account!!! :rotfl2: Anyone else is welcome to as well!!!

I know people who put cash on their account and they get it back. I would imagine it would be the same. I would definitely ask when you see how much it is.

Figure up your tips, pictures (that could blow the whole thing if you have little ones!!!), drinks(oh, that could be some real fun!!!), bingo if you play, excursions, Palo (hey, go twice!!! maybe more!), souveniours (sp) the list goes on.

However if you figure all that up and there is a huge difference, maybe you could ask to have some of it refunded ahead of time to put extra cash in your pocket.

This has happen to me i went thru Du(TA). They ended up refunding my money about 5 days after the changes were made from the regular rate to Fl discount rate. It was credited back to my checking account.(i used a check card.) My sail date is Sept 10th 2005.

Most likely you will know before you even sail if FL resident rates come out for the date you want...if they do and there is availability for your cruise and you are able to reduce the cost, DCL will refund you via the method of payment you made. I doubt they would turn it turning into onboard credit (unless you specifically request that).....but a refund on your CC.

Normally if it is a change in price for the cruise they refund it to you however it was paid. They don't normally roll this over as onboard credit. You would have to specifically tell them to do that. And since it is money you pre-paid for your onboard account, you would get it refunded if you don't use it.

I'm just going to mention other credits you may get that are different -- not that anyone wouldn't use these all up easily. The rebooking on board credit that DCL gives you is not refundable if you don't use it. Also, if you decide to have your Bingo winnings credited to your room rather than taking the cash, they say that becomes non-refundable credit. (We've always used up both so never had a problem or to see if they really did keep the excess!)

Another hint. If you place your Disney Visa Rewards dollars on your onboard account, they become non-refundable. Thus, you only want to place on your account what you know you will spend.

You'd know about Fl resident rates before you actually sailed but probably not before final payment was due. Judging from this year, I'd make final payment in June for and early Sept cruise but resident rates were released in July. I assumed that once DCL had the money, the would want to put difference on credit but if they just debit the credit card, thats even easier. My biggest fear is booking a cat HIGHER than I'd want, counting on resident deal to come out and then it didn't come out.

I was talking about finding out about FL res rates before you sail, but AFTER final payment....DCL likes to refund it via original payment method....not automatically making it an onboard credit. They are very fair about refunding money. This has happened to me.
