What if you can't pay off your reservations by due date???

My package reservations are due by 08/12/14 but I won't be able to pay everything until the end of Aug. Will they cancel everything on me??? :confused3:confused3
 
Yes, it's possible that could happen.

You will want to call and let them know you need an extension on the day it is supposed to be paid in full.

I thought it could only be 10 days but I could be wrong. Someone who knows more should be popping in soon with more info.
I've had an AP for a few years so it's been a while since I booked a package.
 
Call them and explain the situation. Normally, they won't cancel until 30 days out, but let them know your situation anyway.
 
can you apply for a 0% interest credit card for 12-18 mos and put the reservation on that? then you can pay it off over the year or whatever the terms are. that's what I do and chip away at the balance every month.
 

Thank you all so much! I can't apply it to a cc... I would in a heartbeat but just digging out of the hole now and can't put us back there. This trip is everything to us (as I'm sure to everyone that is going lol) and we need it. Don't want everything to be canceled. I will call as soon as I get out of work :O LOL
 
They will not extend the final payment date, because it triggers their computer to cancel it at the 30 day marker.

They do have a grace period. You'll get an email at 44 days saying you missed your payment and the date will be on the bottom that it will cancel.

I'd really recommend NOT missing that date as well, though.

It is possible, but unlikely. I missed my date last month (just plain forgot) and they sent out an email reminder. In the reminder it basically said that if the payment was not received prior to arrival, my reservation might be canceled. There was no threat to cancel or that they would definitely do anything. I paid it, but a few days late and there was no cancelation of anything, room, ADR's of FP+.

I would suggest you call and request an extension if needed to be safe. I have seen several posts where they were allowed to hold the reservation for several weeks and were able to stretch the payments out. To be safe I would let them know and have them note it in the system to avoid any issues.
 
Is you reservation for free dining? If not, you could strip down your package to a room only reservation and then purchase your tickets when you get the money.

Otherwise, maybe you could change the dates of your trip to a time that worked better with your budget? Yes, it would be postponed but it could save you a lot of stress too!
 
if you are getting the room only discount then just switch your reservation to room and 1 ticket, you can upgrade later and add your dining and more tickets. Actually you can do this with free dining too. But you would need at least a 1 day ticket on your package so that it is a package and not a room only reservation
 
One year we weren't sure how many of our kids would be able to go with us because of High School obligation etc. The CM recommended that we book 2 rooms with free dining with 1 adult in each of the rooms and we only got 2 day base tickets. We payed off our package at the 45 day mark and then added the kids much later. I'm pretty sure it was only 2 weeks before we left that we added the kids and upgraded our tickets to 7 day tickets. It ended up making the amount we owed at the 45 day mark much lower than it would have been if everyone was on the reservation. The only issue was not being able to do our fp+ reservations until 2 weeks before we went.
 
Well, I know they don't cancel it all if you miss your 45 day mark. In all of our trips I have never even gotten close to the 45 day mark with a balance until now. I have been really sick and just this week starting to feel better and completely forgot to call and pay our balance last week since I was barely out of the bed. We had paid our 10 day portion months ago but then just added the 4 nights at AKL a couple weeks ago and the due date just came and went. I am going to call tomorrow to pay but as of now (I'm at day like 41 or 42 I think) it is all still there. I wouldn't recommend my method of not calling or not doing anything though. Try calling tomorrow and see what they say. Hopefully they will work with you!
 
Previous suggestions of "stripping down" your package then adding back when you have money are good. If you do this, just make sure to ask CM for deadline (if any) to adding options. I believe there is a minimum booking time frame for DDP - you can't add it at the very last minute.

Another thought is pay with 2 methods. You can pay with the cash you currently have then put only the remaining on a CC (maybe open a Disney visa). Since you will have that remaining money by end of month, when you get it, just pay off the credit card in full so you won't have any balance and your trip will be paid off the end of August as you want with the money you set aside.

You may also want to check into one of the Disney Vacation funds...maybe you can put the amount of money you have for trip now into it then add the remaining balance as you get it.

It was probably 7 years ago but I called to make my payment on the final day and I had issues with my card. I didn't get things resolved for a few days and technically Disney said I was at risk of loosing my vacation until payment was made. At that time there were no grace periods or extensions that I was made aware of.
