What if the snow cancels our flight?

This morning's commute was awful (it took me 95 minutes to go the 17 miles to work) but the airport is apparently functioning fairly well and isn't planning on closing completely. If there is any airport to have to fly out of during winter weather, it's MSP. However, plan on a long time for your drive into the Twin Cities tonight. Everyone on our team is leaving work at 3:00 today, anticipating 1-2 hour commutes home.

We're on our way now and driving through rain but so far so good. I'm sure it will be worse as we get closer. We're coming from the south part.

My best friend lives in New Ulm and they did not have anything as far as weather when I talked to her. It doesn't look like it is snowing here, but the freeways are STOPPED. I am grateful to being able to scoot home on backroads. Days like this I am glad we still live in an inner ring suburb, ha!

I left my office at 3:00 and the highways were in good shape, but the ramps are terrible...the onramp to 394 that I use looked like it hadn't been touched by a plow all day. I had a near-normal drive home, so I'm glad I left early.

Honestly, I couldn't believe it when they said MSP only got 3 inches today. More than 150 flights cancelled for 3 inches? So far everything tomorrow is on time and the snow is more or less done. Fingers crossed!!!!

The problem this time of year is that the ground is still warm but the air temperature is below freezing. The snow hits the ground, melts, and then refreezes to ice. Turns the area into one big ice skating ring.

OT - but how has the adjustment been? I want to move south. Esp after today's weather.

Minnesota is one of the best places to live in the US. Weather and all. I'll take Minneapolis any day over any southern city such as Orlando, Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix.
