a sneek peek. I won an award, a baby was born, I saved a celebrity from the paparazi, ended up at the first aid center and so much more happened on this trip, you sure you want to pass this TR up? Just read on, you won't regret it.

Now to begin.........

Sometimes just picking a title for a TR is the hardest part. A title needs to encompass or pretty much give a short summary of the trip itself, but there were so many choices, a few of them are....

1. She got boogered on her first trip to Disney!
2. You're not a total yanger.
3. That's one gross turkey leg.
4. It was a smokin trip!!!
5. REALLY?!! I mean REALLY?! Dude it's Disney!!!
6. where's the dang flammet duck?

I'm still not totally thrilled with my TR title choice, but I have got to get this report going. I mean the world according to some is going to end in 2012! so with no further delay I will begin....

Meet me, Ty
alldis09034.jpg

I will be the teller of this tale. It's a good tale too.
I will begin with I was born into the Disney world in April of 2006, it only took one glimpse of the castle to know that my life would never be the same. My life and everyones around me had changed, mine for the better, others not so much, they get to hear about my love for Disney constantly, every conversation, television show, song, food, whatever always somehow for me resorts back to Disney, I can create 6 degrees of separation starting with an onion and still manage to bring it back to Disney. It's a gift, don't be jealous! that's what I tell them, I would never tell anyody here on the Dis to not be jealous of my gift, because you all have the gift too. Can I get an AMEN?!

This was my 3rd trip to Disney, my dates were Dec 3-11th, my birthday being the 9th. You don't age at Disney, that is why I have celebrated 2 birthdays there!!! The other time being in Dec of 2007.

This trip came about unexpectedly, only because I could not find anybody to go with me, then when I asked my mother, (A Disney virgin) if she would like to go, she unexpectedly said yes.

Meet my Mother
alldis09048.jpg

Pixie is her name, quiltting is her game, so is spoiling her grandchildren with love, and writing beautiful fart songs to Disney tunes. It's her gift, don't be jealous.
Mom, is the taller one in this picture, and very seldom do I get to say Momis the taller one, she is 5ft 2 in. I gave her an extra half inch on account of her orthodics. She is a sweet woman, a sensitive lady, very inquisitive, always ready to try something new, and most important a constant in my life. She is my wingman, not in the sense of she helps me pick up guys, that would be wrong because I am a very married lady, but she is my wingman in the sense that I find refuge in the shelter of her mothering wings, we hav our moments, we get huffy with eachother, but isn't that normal in all mom/daughter relationships, I love her, that's all I can say, even when I beotch about her I still love her. Anywhoo, back to the story, Mom said yes to DIsney and asked if she could bring her friend Janis, Janis loves Disney and hasn't been in many many moons, so I of course said yes. Janis is the other lady in this picture.

I fell in love with little Janis on this trip, I wanted to pack her in my suitcase and bring her home with me. I had only met her once before this trip, it was years ago at a quilt thing my Mom dragged me too. I didn't really remember her at all, I just knew that she was one of my mom's dearest friends. I got to know her well on this trip, she is a little spitfire and many times had me laughing to the point of pain. A sweet sweet lady with a devilish grin I should say.

So when I thought things over I didn't want to be the 3rd wheel, I had then asked my sister Bo to go, she is my OLDER sister, I am the YOUNGER sister, by 2 years I am YOUNGER and she is OLDER. My brother says that I am the funny sister who thinks she is smart and Bo is the smart sister who thinks she is funny, and it's sad, because I want to be the smart one and she wants to be the funny one. I think she's funny though. Anyway, she couldn't make it due to work and school. So I thought about who I could ask and it came to me, My BFF Maurie

Here is the story of Maurie, or as I call her Marzi,
alldis09059.jpg

I will try to make this a short background update on a story that I know is going to be long.
I met Marzi in 5th grade in El Paso Tx.
menmarz-1.jpg

I'm on the left with the shoes on my ears, serioulsy do not question that , I have no answer for it.
we became BFF's and stayed inseparable until I moved away the summer before 8th grade. (I was an Army brat) We kept in touch for a while, but eventually we did lose track of eachother, I had moved to Michigan, then Germany, then FLorida, Germany again, Minnesota and then back to Texas, but by then she being an Army brat herself had also moved, I always wondered what had happened to her, I never had another friend as beautiful as her. I never shared a friendship so deep with anybody else either. I got married, had kids, got divorced, remarried all without my kindred spirit, I looked for her all the time, spent money on those bogus 1800 search or find a friend scams, I was sent 100's of pages of MM Jordens. One day a a couple summers ago on a whim I type her name into Myspace, 3 popped up and one of them was her, I sent an e-mail and viola, a friendship restored, we spent hours on the phone catching up, made plans to meet and they always fell through, so when I called her with the idea of meeting at DIsney I didn't get my hopes up. But she said yea, we had a few hurtles along the way, each of us battling something tryin gto prevent this trip, but we all overcame and it turned out to be a trip that only Disney magic could provide. Meeting Marzi again after 25 years was special in itself, but having Disney be the first time seeing eachother after so many years, can you imagine the magic? Plus Mom had never been to Disney, newbies kind of bring an extra magic with them.

I can't wait to tell you all about this trip.
I had a couple of Dis meets, some planned, some not. By far I will say this has been the best Disney experience yet, It was cold, it rained, I was in pain, we had lost luggage, but I will stand by my words, this was the best trip!!

Stay tuned, I have a whole lot of trip tellin for ya. And alot of pictures to share.

Dec 2nd, 12 hours till departure, I am at work, an associate at Bed, Bath and Beyond, working towards being a bridal consultant but kind of stuck in customer service for the time being.

The phone rings,
Happy Holidays, Thank you for calling Bed Bath and Beyond, this is Ty, how may I direct your call?

Hi Ty, can you tell me how to get to your store.

(on a normal day I could do this with no problems, but I am suffering from major brain farts due to my upcoming Disney adventure)

I meant to ask the gentleman if he knew where the prison was, but instead I ask "Have you ever been to prison?"

He answers, "Um, no, but why should that matter?"

I correct my mistake quickly and give him directions.

Not too much later a man comes up to the desk and tells me he has a Beyond store order he would like to pay for, I go to the printer and pull it out, I verify his name

"Harry McChickenbutt?"

He replies, "It's prounced, (I'll sound it out for you) Mic hiken bute."

"Oh, my bad, sorry." I process his order and life goes on. Then my MOD asked me to price the stuffed animals in the box then put them on the shelf, no problem, I open the box and there is a stuffed Mickey Mouse, I scream, "It's Disney." The other associates laugh, "I don't think it's her pain meds causing her high."

Work is finally over, I hall butt to get to my ortho Dr. so he can give me a refill on my Hydrocodone for the trip,

(I had broken my Tibia and Fibula, tore my ACL and TCL a few months prior, I had only been back to work for 2 weeks, I knew motrin would not cover the pain that DIsney walking would induce)

SO with pain meds in hand I head home, I had a few last minute things to pack. I call Mom run down the list with her, answer all her questions, then I call Marzi.

Hey girl, are you all packed?

"No, not yet"

"What? are you kidding me? I mean Really!? What are you waiting for? I have been packed for a week now."

"Tell the truth Ty, you have been packed for months."

"Yeah, so? Now you pack too." I go over the list with her, tell her some vital airline information, she has only flown twice before in her life and never alone, I make sure to emphasize the importance of the yellow baggage tag. We hang up and I finish getting ready.
I do my nails, iron my clothes, take a bath, shave the legs, (you need to know this right?) and then I settle in for date night with my hubby Kent. The plan was to watch Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer. He fell asleep ten minutes into it. SO I got up and did my toe nails. I woke him up at 11:00pm so we could head up stairs, it was raining like a banchee, so I had him set the alrm a little earlier then planned. When it rains hard enough here, our 2 creeks on the property merge and flood the roads over, there is no getting out then. I say a quick prayer, get on the DIsboards say adios to my dispeeps and then it's lights out.

coming up later, do I make it to the airport on time? I won't leave you haning.... I did make it there on time, but I will fill you all in on that later, and my first meet up with Marzi after 25 years.

Woot woot! :woohoo: I wondered when you were going to start! I was worried you had given up on the DIS (silly thinking I know) Going back to read now!

EDIT: McChickenButt! :lmao::rotfl2: I literally burst out laughing when I read that!!!! Oh my gosh, Ty. You are too funny. Can't wait for more!!!!

From one army brat to another I think it's great that you were able to hook up with an old friend. I know how hard that can be when you move all over the place. Do I see your mom forgetting her yellow tag for luggage?

I am so excited that you have started your trippie! I might try and work on mine tomorrow during the snow storm. I had so much fun with you on the flight, and it really did seem like it only took 15 minutes to get there. I also enjoyed talking to you mom on the bus from Hollywood Studios (?) Can't wait for the next installment.

So I see my checking daily for your trip report has paid off!! I was a little concerned you may have stayed.

McChickenButt! OMG! Do you know what Diet Pepsi does to a laptop?? I'm quite positive my buttons will stick because I spit it all over the place. TOO FUNNY!

I can't wait to hear all about EVERYTHING!! Hope you had a great birthday!!

Yaaaay! You're back you're back you're back! I was getting worried about you! So sorry that we didn't get to meet up at MK! I can't wait to read all about how your trip went, though! :goodvibes

Hi first poster on this here TR. I'm so happy you came here to read, I enjoyed your company on my PTR. How was your trip, I am going to use my next day off work to read yours.
Me? Give up on the Dis? No way, that's crazy talk.

Army brats make tons of friends all over the world, but they also lose track of good friends too, I am so lucky to have found Marzi. And we picked up right where we left off, well we didn't play Barbies but you get the drift I'm sure.
Where all did you live in your Army dependant days?

I wish I could work on my TR today, I have to go to work, so far we have about 9 inches we're only expected 12, I think you all down south are supposed to get more, perfect time to start a TR. I can't wait to read yours.
SO you enjoyed talking with my Mom? She tends to treat everybody like they are her best friend, I'm surprised you didn't get to hear all about my divorce, she loves to talk about that too.
I had a great time on the flight too, Was that devine intervention or what? I mean really the odds of getting to sit next to a total Disney lover, for me, was the best thing ever.

So I see my checking daily for your trip report has paid off!! I was a little concerned you may have stayed.

Yes, I started writing this TR because I knew you would be waiting anxiously for it:rolleyes:, I wanted to stay in Disney, I almost got to, but that explanation will have to wait for the TR. ;)
Mr. McChickenbutt didn't think it was too funny:confused3, sorry you're going to have sticky buttons now, maybe you should stick to drinking water for the remainder of this TR. I'm not promising humor up the whazoo, but you never know.
I did have a great birthday, I wish I could celebrate every birthday at DIsney.

Yaaaay! You're back you're back you're back! I was getting worried about you! So sorry that we didn't get to meet up at MK! I can't wait to read all about how your trip went, though! :goodvibes
I am sorry we missed the meet up too, but I understand it was getting late, who knows maybe someday in the future we might have the opportunity again.
The trip was great and I can't wait to share it all.

YAY!!! Welcome back! :dance3:
Thank you, can't wait to really get into the meat of this TR.

Alrighty then, glad to have you here, keep comin gback and bring your friends. I want to have this party rolling.:woohoo:

Let me say, it is SNOWING like a banchee, we have 18 inches so far. Work was very sloooow. the mall closed and then security came by and told us that they issued a state of emergency and that all stores in our complex should start sending their employees home and close up for the day. Well corporate for Bed, Bath and Beyond vetoed that decision and the store is staying open as normal, 11:00pm. Can you believe it? Kent drove me into work today, then came back to get me, he was an hour and half early so he hung out with me while I worked, I had maybe 3 customers in that time, go figure!
The drive home normally takes 30 minutes, it took an hour and 20 minutes, our roads hadn't even been plowed yet.
Anywhooo, Kent is cooking me my Birthday dinner tonight since I was away for my actual birthday. I will try and update tomorrow.
Anybody getting hit with this storm, stay warm and if you have to drive go slow, be safe.

Glad to hear you made it home safely from work. Snow is never fun. Thankfully my neighbourhood is dodging the storm :woohoo: which doesn't happen very often!!! Keep safe, stay warm, and enjoy your special b-day dinner :goodvibes

Hey Ty,
Welcome back! I was thrilled to find you stated your trip report! It already sounds like you had a wonderful time! I am so glad that you and Marzi were able to finally get together ,and your right, there is no better place for that to have happened then at Disney World!

I know what you mean about the storm. My husband plows for Penn Dot,and so he drove me into work tonight and will pick me up in the morning. I am so thankful I didn't have to drive in this mess, because I saw cars sliding all over tonight on the way in.At least the storm helped me to catch up on doing some indoor things that needed to be done for the holidays, like wrap presents and bake cookies. Now I feel less stressed about getting things done in time! haha. Anyway,be careful out there, and I will be anxiously waiting for the next part of your trip report.

Ty! Your back!!! :woohoo: I'm so glad that you had a wonderful time and I was so happy to hear that you started your new trip report! Go Tyyy! Goooo Tyyyy! It's your birthday, have a party! :woohoo:

Love the snow, but doubt we'll see a single flake of it, I guess it's the nature of living in south central Texas. I think we're hitting 70 degrees on Thursday, doesn't look like a cold Christmas let alone a white one. :sad2: Sorry you had to work through a blizzard and it took you a month to finally get home, but I'm happy to hear that your sweet hubby is cooking for you. :lovestruc Good man! Hope it was a good Birthday dinner.

Hi, I'm so glad you are here to follow along on this trip report, it really was a special time, meeting Marzi for this first time in 25 years at Disney was a drug I can not explain, I felt hight the whole trip.

Phew! Glad that snow storm is over, I made it towrk on the blizzard day, but tby the next day our country roads still had not been plowed and I wasn't able to make it to work that day. It felt awful, especially when my boss said, "Everybody else made in in today." Well Duh! Everybody else lives in town!

Ty! Your back!!! :woohoo: I'm so glad that you had a wonderful time and I was so happy to hear that you started your new trip report! Go Tyyy! Goooo Tyyyy! It's your birthday, have a party! :woohoo:

Wow, what a great welcome back! YOu love me! you really love me!!

No white christmas for you? I'm sorry, If I could control the weather I would give everybody a white Christmas, just for the day, Cause that's all I want, once Christmas is over, the snow can be gone too. I'm not sure what were going to have this year, some stations are calling for snow, some are calling for a wintery mix.

My BIrthday dinner was awesome, Snow crab legs, steamed shrimp and fried fish. Yummo!!!!

I'm in! Loving it so far!
I'm so glad you are in, I am going to start my update now. Thanks for reading.

The alarm goes off at 3:00am, I can hear the rain outside, I run to the window to make sure we are not flooded in, the creek is high but hasn't over flowed it's banks yet, I wake Kent and tell him I want to leave early because of the rain. As I am walking out the bedroom door I trip over the suitcase that I had layed in the hallway and came down hard on my knee, IT must have been Disney adrenalin because I didn't feel a thing at that time.

I jump in the shower, wash the hair, jump out, you know all that morning stuff women do to get ready. I wanted to curl my hair all around, get that Farrah Fawcett look that my DH Kent loves so much, it takes forever.

I had made of pile of last minute things to throw in my suitcase, gave DH my iron to also throw into my suitcase, check my flight status again, check that I have all my travel documents, check for wallet, phone, lipgloss etc...etc... and we are out the door.....20 minutes LATE!

Kent then tells me he has to stop at the bank and stop for gas. DUUUUUUUDE! you couldn't do this last night?

Simmer down Dude, we have plenty of time. And we did, the drive to the airport was uneventful, we were ahead of traffic, and even though this was only my second time flying out of BWI, and even though Kent had been there a bazillion times, I still had to question if he knew where he was going. "Are you sure this is the right way? Don't you need that exit? It says Baltimore, you just missed it, this doesn't look familiar, are you just driving me to Disney instead of the airport? What is taking so long? Are we lost?

Dude! Simmer down, I've got this.

SO I tried to simmer down, every time I thought about seeing Marzi I would hyperventilate, and tear up some.

At the airport Kent decided to park and come inside with me, usually he just drops me at the curb, but today he said he wanted to have as much time with me as possible.

I had never flown Airtran before so I had no idea where to park the car, we decided on somewhere in the middle and hoped it wasn't too far at either end.

Well it was at the very end, it was a long walk, I had to stop a couple of times along the way. Kent had noticed I was limping, I hadn't noticed at all, my knee was a little swollen but really didn't hurt too much, so I made myself stop limping, my physical therapist said limping will only cause more problems so try not to.

We finally get to Airtran and I try to do the self checkin, I never have problems when I do this, but today I was having all kinds of trouble, so a nice airtran guy helped me, he offered an upgrade to business class for only 69 dollars, no having to pay for luggage I could check both my bags if I wanted, first one the plane, first off the plane, this all sounded so good, but I wanted to save that 69 dollars to spend at Disney, I don't mind waiting my turn to board and deboard, I don't mind carrying around a huge carryon suitcase, I don't mind any of that, I can sacrifice for the sake of more Disney dough for me. And in the long run I was happy that I didn't upgrade, but I will fill you in on that in a bit.

So all checked in now, Kent and I step out front for a smoke. (I am quitting after the new year, I swear) I had already slowed down alot, I was at 2 packs a week, so I had only brought 3 packs, I figured 1 extra as a back up, just in case.

We go back in and I am freaking out left and right. "Where's my boarding pass? Oh here it is, I'm going to put it in my pocket, wait where's my ID? Oh it's already in my pocket. Wait where's my wallet, I think I want that one in my little carryon, I should keep cash in my pocket too so I don't have to keep digging into my bag for my wallet. where's my lipgloss? crap, I repacked it by accident, found it! where's my boarding pass?

Kent yells, Dude!!! Simmer down, you act like you have never flown before.

I start tearing up, I am goin gto see Marzi in a few hours.

"Well. don't cry your make up off."

How is my make up? Hows my hair? What do you think of this outfit? Should I have worn a brighter color? Do these jeans make me look fat? well fatter?

"Stop it Ty, you are going to drive yourself nuts, Lord knows you've already driven me nuts."

We go back out front for a simmer down inhalation of fake easiness. After a bit I look at my watch. "Kent I really should go through security now just incase the line is long."

He nods in agreement. SO we head back in and say our goodbyes at security, hug, kiss, hug again kiss again longer hug, finally I step away from him, he stays at security until he can no longer see me and I can no longer see him.

I stop to grab an O.J and an Intouch magazine for the flight, I was hoping that would keep my mind occupied on the 2 hour flight down, anytime I thought of Marzi I would want to cry hard tears.

I make it to my gate, sit down for a second when they start to call "zones" for loading, I was zone 6, one of the last to board, which means I'm at the front of the plane, so I will be one of the first to deboard.

I get on the plane, my seat is 11A, now you would think that because we read from left to right that A would start on the left, right? So I sit down in what I think is 11A I get my magazine all set to go by putting it in the magazine holder on the back of the seat in front of me. Then I look over at the seats across the aisle, A actually starts on the right, so I grab up my coat and bag and head across the aisel, I had to disturb the lady who was already sitting there, "Sorry to make you have to get up."
She was so cool with it, then I remembered I left my magazine over there, so this nice lady retrieved it for me. I get all settled again, she gets resettled and we do the puff of air thing to say, well thisi s it, here we are for the next 2 hours but at least we ar all settled now.

She begins to talk, "This is a full flight."

Yea, it is.

"I'm just glad that I didn't have to sit next to a child."

Yea, their are alot of kids on this flight.

"I like kids, but you never know what might happen, it doesn't matter though since I'm going to Disney World."

I perk up. "I'm going to Disney too."

"Well I thought so since you're wearing a Tinkerbell shirt."

We chit chat a bit, she introduces herself as Katie, then she mentions the disboards.

"You're a Diser? I'm a Diser, what's your SN?

"EvilDiva."

I have seen you around on the boards, I'm Disneyaddicted.

She has seen me around, we pretty much have read alot of the same TR's so we talked about who are some of our favorite authors. (MrsTheKing) We then got into our lives, occupations, families, injuries. kids, and next thing you know the flight was over. I figured we would see eachother again since we both were staying at Pop Century. We said our goodbyes and that we would look eachother up on the boards when we got home. I head over to the bathrooms for a freshen up before Marzi's flight lands I have about 15 minutes.

So far this trip is going well, the Disney Gods saw fit that I should be seated next to a Diser on the plane, and a nice Diser at that, Katie was such an awesome girl. YOu can get a feel for a person in just a few short minutes, Katies seems to me to be a natural friend, she was just so cool and easy to talk to.

I try to freshen my makeup but figure it's all going to be cried off soon so why bother, I leave in search of US Airways, I search and search then finally I just ask for directions, and the directions I got....wow I followed them as best I could, I figured I was going to end up in Asia or somewhere, but I finally see US AIrways, I can't get back to her gate though because they have a security gate to pass through and of course I have no boarding pass for that, so I decided to just wait and I knew eventually Marzi would come down that hallway. I looked for her flight up on the boards and couldn't find it, So I decided to text her since her flight should have landed by now, I open my phone and blast!!!! I never programmed her cell phone number into my phone, so I look through all my papers, I knew I had at least written it down but I couldn't find it, right then Kent calls me, so I pick it up and tell him my delimma. He checks around the house for her number and can't find it it, but then my other line beeps in, it's her. "I'll call you back Kent, it's Marzi on the phone." I hang up with him, pick up with her.

"My flight has landed where do I go?" she sounds pissed off

"Just follow the signs to baggage claim and I will meet you as you exit security."

"Where's that?"

"Just follow the signs, you'll run right into it."

So we hang up and I call Kent back, "Kent she sounds mad."

Maybe she is just tired.

"No, she's mad, I wonder what happened?" While I'm talking to Kent I am changing out of my warm fuzzy shoes into flip flops, then I get out my brush and start brushing my hair, which had already gone straight, can you believe it? I curl my hair and it holds up for 2 days back home, but I step off the plane in FL and it is straight!!! So I'm telling Kent about my flight and meeting Katie, what a small world, Then I see her, She is gliding towards me, yes gliding, she has such a smooth walk, unlike me who teeters back and forth and my arms fly to and from. I start to shake, I drop my brush into my bag. "Kent, it's her, it's Marzi, there she is, OMG, it's her, she looks the same, my GOd, it's her, I gotta go." We run to eachother and lock up in the biggest hug ever, I was always use to bending over a bit to give her a hug, now I'm on tippy toes. We're crying and swaying back and forth while hugging and crying and hugging and saying I can't believe it, oh my Gosh." This went on for a bit. Then we stepped back and gave eachother a good lookin over.

Marzi said "Girl, I would know you anywhere."

I haven't changed too much?

"No, and like always you are brushing your hair, I wasn't one bit surprised to come out here and see you brushing your hair, just like when we were kids, always brushing the hair."

We laugh about this and then get serious. "You sounded pissed off on the phone, what's going on?"

She lets out a big sigh, rolls her eyes, shakes her head and says.......

Oh come on!!! What a cliff hanger! Don't keep me hanging! I wanna know what she said :worship:

Sounds like you banged your knee pretty hard when you tripped over your suitcase. Hope it held out for the rest of your trip.

I never meet other DISers on flights from Canada. :sad2:
