What I want to do about DDP.

i have posted this before. The restaurants are very willing to accomadate kids. At Kona's he was able to get the apples from the set menu a cheeseburger from teh ala carte menu and an ice cream sundae. At Prime time he didn't want anything on the kids menu so they got him a chicken let and mashed poatoes and green beans. I have seen others say their kids got pot roast in a kids size portion. At Coral reef the kids menu had a differnt soup and he didn't like it so the brought him the soup that was on the adult menu. I can't remember what happened at Rose and Crown but I know they accomadted him. At Le Cellier they actually went to a different restauarnat and got him apples for an appetizer because he didn't like what was on the kids menu. the servers/managers have issues with the new kids menu and want the patrons happy. At all of the above mentioned places we were charged for the kids DDP or if we were paying OOP for the meal we were charged the kids price.

I'm really glad to hear that I was told this when a Disney rep contacted me and I wondered if it was going to be the case. That's why I love the dis board :thumbsup2 .

We leave on our vacation tomorrow afternoon. We will be a group of 6 -- 4 adults, ds5 and dd2. When the new menus were first released I was one of the parents that was really worried that my ds5 would starve to death before the end of our vacation. However, 4 of our 8 TS meals are buffets/family style and I'm sure he'll be fine at those. The other 4 TS meals are LeCellier, Coral Reef, Sci Fi and Whispering Canyone -- as I understand it only one of those (Sci Fi) has adopted the new menu. But even if they all do, I'm sure dd2 will be glad to take his kids meal (she'll eat anything) and I'll order him something else. My biggest concern is desserts -- I won't be able to eat a big piece of cake while he has sugar free jello (neither child will touch jello anyway) but I figure we'll share desserts. For counter service, if there's something he likes fine, otherwise I will get an adult meal and split it between the two children. I've decided to put the worry behind me on this and deal with it as it comes. If nothing else, I'll remember what my pediatrician told me when ds was 2 and refused to eat at all -- "A child won't starve to death when foods are offered; they will eventually get hungry enough to eat".

I hope you and your family have a WONDERFUL time at Disney! :cool1:
With your great attitude and approach to the food "issues" I'm sure you will :)
Please post when you return and let us know how your trip was.

At the counter, where there was nothing the kiddo wanted, we simply didn't order a kids meal and he ate some of mine. Also in PVH and TSPP even though it wasn't on the menu, the kiddo got a pizza. At PP he got the full combo like everyone else. At PVH it was just the pizza w/o the salad but no biggie. Everywhere else there was something for him. He wanted a burger at Ray's so I ordered one for him at the burger counter and my wife ordered our food at the ribs counter. I don't think you'll have too much of a problem.

We did a lot of the buffets and all you can eats for the sit downs where the kids can get whatever they want. we Ko'd Chefs de France for lack of a decent kids menu and we ko'd a couple of others as well. But we went to where he could get something of the house rather than just kids faire. It worked out great for us.

Sorry but you weren't required to read or post.
NewEnglandDisney's derision at the repetitiveness of the postings is as appropriate as any other message in this thread.

It may be, however, it woud be more productive to say (in a nicer tone) hey, this was already talked about and here is the link: www.www.www

There is no reason to be rude, and like many people pointed out, you do not have to read a thread. . . . I see repetitive threads all the time (there are tons of people on here, it happens) and all I do is move on to the next one!

By the same token, such comments directed at a single poster are, according to the forum rules, to be conducted via PMs, not on the open forum.

LOL for the record, I never said anyone forced me to read this thread, though several people seem to think I did.

I would like to apologize to the OP, however, as my comment was not directed toward her dillema. I agree that the kids meals are questionable.

My comments wee directed to the fact that, on the front page alone, there were a half dozen threads already going on about this stuff, and it is largely the same over and over and it's making it difficult to find the threads that are not about people up in arms about changes that we have very little first-hand account of what is actually happening. I never said I was forced to read it - I did it of my own free will - but conversely it's also up to me if I comment or not. ;)

bicker gave some great advice above that applies to all parts of a WDW vacation - work with the CM's, not against them. It sounds like others have given some good advice as well. So again, I apologize for being trite - it's nice to see people trying to work with the system, instead of just crying about it.

I am also in the same boat. My dates are to soon to change anything. I had thought of making my DD 10yo BUT my husband said, and he is right, that I was nuts to pay for here as anadult. Especially since we are splitting resorts and getting the "extra" one day ticket. The problems with the DDP NEED to said and often so those who are "new" get the whole story.

Personally if I could change now I would go back to APs, AP room dsicount, and DDE. It is more cost effective since we would never order dessert at most CS and share at most TS. This is trip is with a large group so I didn't want the hassle of splitting up checks etc...

Glad you had a good trip ~~ I hope some of the people who are worried about the new children's menu will read this and know that there are workable options to feed their children at various restaurants.
